Opinion on the name Blake (for a boy)...

DS2 is a week old and still has no name. The only name on DH's shortlist is Blake. I'm not convinced, I'm not sure i like the 'bl' sound! I fear if we don't go with it, poor DS will forever remain nameless... what do you guys think of the name?

Umm.....no sorry.

reader77 · 07/06/2016 18:34

Reminds me of Amy Winehouses ex. Blush

hiddengems · 07/06/2016 18:35

He'll always be Blake Carrington to me.

And I know an Alexes and a Fallon Confused

Tiggeryoubastard · 07/06/2016 18:36

God no! It's bloody awful. So many nice names out there, why saddle him with that?

TheDuchyOfGrandFenwick · 07/06/2016 18:38

Awful name.

Torfhinn · 07/06/2016 18:44

That's what i thought Confused

At least i can show this to DH!

Any suggestions then? DH doesn't like 'old fashioned' or religious names, sibling is Leo...

My current favourite is Max

Although I do like Blake

Babettescat · 07/06/2016 18:53

My my ...

It reminds me of the poet William Blake. Whose work and philosophy in his day and age, I admire.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 07/06/2016 18:54

Well, it appears I am in the minority but I love the name Blake. A close family member is Blake and its a great name for a boy.

ListenToYourHeart · 07/06/2016 18:59

I like Blake.

It was a short list for a boys name for me 6 years ago but then I had a DD Grin

lovelychops · 07/06/2016 19:12

No.
He was a character on home and away in the early 90's. And it's horrible. Sorry.

Sophronia · 07/06/2016 19:24

I think it's ok

DaemonPantalaemon · 07/06/2016 19:28

If his surname is Carrington, Blake will do wonderfully.
Or you could call him Sayer, and have Leo and Sayer in the family.
Or go for Theo. Leo and Theo. Or Neo.

pollylovespie · 07/06/2016 19:30

It's really bad, sorry. Max is lovely.

Ditsy4 · 07/06/2016 19:36

I know one. I quite like it although I wouldn't chose it myself.
Leo
Matthew
Miles
Noah
Kyle
Alex

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 07/06/2016 19:38

Jacob? With the NN Jake. Similar to Blake, but without the 'b' sound.

lordStrange · 07/06/2016 19:45

I think it's classy. Blake Carrington? WTF grandma Grin

Call him Otis. Love Otis.

LadyAntonella · 07/06/2016 19:50

Dislike (sorry). I hate the phrase 'try hard' but I think it is a bit...

Otis on the other hand is just lovely.

Tiggeryoubastard · 07/06/2016 19:59

Classy? Shock completely the opposite.

NameChange30 · 07/06/2016 20:09

Leo is my favourite boy's name. Who picked it, you or DH? Or both?

I like Max too, and it goes well with Leo. What does your DH say about Max?

What other names are on your shortlist? Do you like James, Robin, Saul, Toby...

LadyAntonella · 07/06/2016 20:10

I also love Leo.

cecilelliott · 07/06/2016 20:12

I actually really like Blake, and know a very sweet 3 year old with that name!

Max and Leo are nice names too, although quite popular at the moment- you wouldn't have the "2/3-in-a-class" problem with Blake I imagine! I like the suggestions of Robin and Saul (There are lots of Tobys around at the moment too)
Good Luck!
