We are likely to have another girl but need a boys name just in case. My DH really likes the name Jensen but I'm not at all convinced. Please can i have opinions on this name thanks.

I really don't like it either. I think it sounds so try hard. Sorry!

Bananalanacake · 06/06/2016 19:37

I was about to say that about Denmark too.

smartyclogs · 06/06/2016 20:09

Don't like it at all.
In fact I'm quite surprised to see to many positive comments as it doesn't sound like a 'typical' MN name, which are usually along the lines of Arlo, Hugo and Albert!

MuttonCadet · 06/06/2016 20:14

Sorry, I think it's a marmite name and i'my not keen on it.
However I like James, Edward, Henry, William type names, which some people think are really boring.

EllenDegenerate · 06/06/2016 21:38

Your son will be known as Jen.

Threefaries · 06/06/2016 22:27

Thank you very much. Your comments have proved successful 😁
He has decided against this name.

We have moved back to discussing girls names. He's suggested names he remembers from his school days. I mentioned one name and he replied 'yes let's do that' It is not like making a choice say what meal to cook, but it's feeling a bit like this. I think I'm on my own here Confused

I don't like Jensen/Jenson. The nickname Jen or Jenny wouldn't be so cool imo.

Voteforpedr0 · 07/06/2016 14:45

Jensen is a cool name (what little lad wouldn't want to share the same name as a racing car driver ? ) jenny would be an amazing nickname too. It's not american at all as it's not made up, it's a traditional Danish name. Go for it

Dontrocktheboat · 07/06/2016 22:56

Sorry I think it is awful - very faddy and American sounding. But I am not v keen on names ending in 'son' anyway. And it is definitely popular around here!

SomethingAboutNothing · 07/06/2016 23:01

I like it... so much so we named our dog it!

MumOnACornishFarm · 10/06/2016 23:10

Sorry, I think it's a bit 'chavvy' Blush

JessieMcJessie · 13/06/2016 00:07

What do you mean you are "likely" to have another girl? Surely you either know or you don't?

FWIW even though you have now rules it out, I think Danish when I hear Jensen, not chavvy. jenson Button was named after a Danish friend of his father apparently.

For a girl, how about Kirsten?

AngharadTheSplendid · 13/06/2016 02:53

Naff.

kiwiscantfly · 13/06/2016 03:45

I love ii, it's been on my list for five years now, but we only have girls!

kiwiscantfly · 13/06/2016 03:45

Love it even

LilacInn · 13/06/2016 04:23

Sounds like the name of a doddering butler in a country house murder mystery.

"Jensen, do serve the sherry please. And who was screaming in the billiards room just now?"

nanetterose · 16/06/2016 18:45

I think it sounds like a name for a dog - sorry. However, nothing wrong with it sounding "American" Confused
