Im in Spain at the moment and there's a little girl sitting across from us called Bianca. It sounds lovely, especially said with the Spanish accent.

In the UK it's not going to work though is it? I'm already thinking 'Rickaaaaay' in my head.

What do you think?

Lovely in Spain, dire in the UK, first thing of was Rickaaaay! Saying that, her peers won't be aware of that connection.

I think it's a great name but I fear it is tainted by Eastenders life Courtney and Tiffany.

Loads of names work in Spain but not England. I've spent a lot of time in Spain and Joan (said Joanne) is a common boys name. Also Vera (said Vair-rah).

I love Bianca - I do slightly get reminded of Eastenders, but also of The Rescuers cartoon films i watched when i was a child

Sorry, I also immediately thought of Eastenders. It's a definite no-go in the UK in my opinion.

I really like it. Your DD's peers wouldn't make the Eastenders association, so I don't think it's a problem.

I know a Bianca who is the absolute opposite of her from EE. It's a nice name and really suits her. Sadly a to of people won't be able to get past the EE association.

I know a baby Bianca and absolutely love her name. The Rickaaaay association only lasted a short while for me, and now I never think of it when I see her.

Agree about the Eastenders link, but how about Paloma, that has a similar style I think.

Paloma can mean dove, but also is used for pigeon.

Lovely name but most people's point of reference will be Eastenders.

I really love Audrey but know most people in the uk will think "coronation street" not "Hepburn".

I think Shakespeare and then The Rescuers. EE wouldn't jump into my head, but then I've never watched it - I do know there's a character called that, but it wouldn't be my first thought.
