So he likes surnames from Ancient Rome? Cool Grin

Cassius basically means empty vessel, which I don't like, though I've started to hear of a few boys with this name.

Google Latin baby names and you'll get loads of inspiration - sorry am on phone and can't link.

Just roman names in general?
Claudius
Julius
Augustus
Primus (assuming this is your first pregancy - Secundus, Tertius, Quartus, Quintus, Sextus, Septimus and Octavius have also been quite valid Romania names. Also Decimus but I can't think of am example of Nonus (9th) being used as a name)
Antonius
Cornelius
Demetrius
Gaius
Silvius

Atticus.

The one that I was overruled on.

Big fan of To Kill A Mockingbird. Love that name.

Oh and Lucius is quite cool. That was the name of one of the main characters in the TV series Rome.

albertcampionscat · 31/05/2016 13:46

Thaddeus?

Horseshoe1 · 31/05/2016 13:55

I like Cassius. Also Cassian, Caspian, Caspar.

squoosh · 31/05/2016 14:06

Cyrus

kelda · 31/05/2016 14:07

Nicodemus, shortened to Nico.

squoosh · 31/05/2016 14:14

Chaka Demus (& Pliers)

PotOfYoghurt · 31/05/2016 14:26

I know 2 year old twins called Cassius and Artemis (Cass & Artie/Art). Doesn't really make much sense to me as they're both boys but there you go.

squoosh · 31/05/2016 14:29

Why would you call a boy Artemis!

Biscuitsneeded · 31/05/2016 14:29

Maximus makes me think of Gluteus Maximus, so I'd avoid that... Maximilian, maybe?

Is it heroic names your DP likes?

Hector? Alexander? Arthur?

Biscuitsneeded · 31/05/2016 14:30

Remus?? It's a bit out there but I think I like it. Magnus would be a safer option.

kelda · 31/05/2016 14:37

Lysander

FuckingFattyBitch · 31/05/2016 14:41

I wanted to call DS2 Maximus. It was vetoed by dp.

Joinourclub · 31/05/2016 14:43

Horatio

Just5minswithDacre · 31/05/2016 14:44

Caecilius Smile

SpidersFromMars · 31/05/2016 14:45

Marcus?

TheCladdagh · 31/05/2016 14:49

Maximus makes me think of Gluteus Maximus

Which is essentially your buttocks, right? Grin

I love Septimus because of Mrs Dalloway, but (a) he ends the novel committing suicide by impalation and (b) you'd have to have quite a few children first, if you were going to be strictly by the board.

I think that with some of these names, you run up against pronunciation issues which could quickly become irritating - are most people going to say 'LOOcy-us' or 'LOO-shus' for Lucius etc? When they're not asking why you called your baby after a notorious Death Eater...

KoalaDownUnder · 31/05/2016 14:52

Ooh, Remus is cool.

Or Romulus! Grin

srtajuanita · 31/05/2016 14:59

Lady Helen Taylor's sons are Cassius and Columbus. Boris Johnson and Marina have Theodore, Milo and Cassia.

Beth2511 · 31/05/2016 15:17

Thank you all. Will discuss them with dh when he gets in from work.

I love lucius and atticus!
