Combined list of mine and DH's favourite girl names

Hi there, pregnant with DC3 (fingers crossed - am only 8+3). Have 2 DDs and between their first and middle names we've run out of everything we love/can agree on. If it's a girl this time we're stuck!

Here's the list of names that either I like or DH likes. There are only two that we both like, but in each case one of us is still a bit 'meh' about it. All the other names are either my names but DH doesn't like them, or his but I don't. What do you think?

Ooh I quite like Violet as well but am worried it's a bit faddy.

Rose - Pretty, but i prefer Rosie, Rosanna or Roselle. Rose is generally seen as a 'filler' or middle name, but theres nothing wrong with it.
Naomi - I like it. Lovely, normal name, but not too popular right now, which makes it a plus in my books.
Tess - Not keen. Old Fashioned in my mine, reminds me of a Catherine Cookson character, or someone from that era. Just doesn't seem much of a name, almost like a nickname.
Felicity - Too flowery, fluffy and fairy-like for me. I have only ever known one, who went by Fliss.
Imogen - Nice, traditional, but nothing special. I like the nickname Immy.
Harriet - Lovely, pretty and i love the nickname Harrie for a girl.
Violet - Okay, but always remind me of Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka, which doesn't exactly paint a pretty picture.

I love most of your list! Rose, Imogen, Naomi, Tessa and Violet are all on the list of DC3 is a girl!

I'm not as keen on Felicity or Harriet but not sure I could choose between the others yet.

Thanks for your responses! I might as well come clean on my preferences/DH's:

Rose - it might be a popular 'filler' as a middle name, but as a first name it is much less common and I think it is stunningly pretty, simple and strong. It's my absolute favourite and goes beautifully with our other names (IMO). Our issue with it is that we have a close friend with a 5-year-old Rosie and it might be a bit close. DH likes the name too but is less into it than me.
Naomi - this is DH's favourite name. He thinks it is classic, pretty, not all that popular, and versatile - you can easily imagine Naomis of all ages, classes, job descriptions, personalities etc. I agree with him about all of that and for all those practical reasons it sort of ticks every box, but it just doesn't feel as special to me as Rose.
Tess - DH's all-time favourite name but I have vetoed it for reasons of Tess of the d'Urbervilles, which might sound a bit mad but it's relevant to my line of work and I would seem like a bloody crazy woman for naming my child after a girl so innocent she didn't even understand she'd had sex until she was pregnant.
Felicity - may use this as a middle name (I want to use Joy as a middle name but can't for family reasons, so I like it for its meaning). DH likes it but for me it has a slightly frumpy/fusty feel.
Harriet - even fustier than Felicity. Not for me, DH likes it though.
Imogen - I have always loved this name, but we have an Isobel and DH thinks it is too close.
Violet - I like it, DH hates it. Violet Beauregarde thing doesn't bother me - there are enough other Violets in the world to dilute the effect!

love your list - dd's name is on there!

I don't think the Tess of the d'urbervilles is enough to discount Tess by itself?

So you like Rose best? I agree it's timeless and lovely - BUT there are a lot of Rosies out there?

Oooh Gabrielle/Gabriella - I absolutely love that, and I really like the NN 'Gaby'. I seem to remember that DH doesn't like that nickname, but I think it is really pretty. Will add it to the list. Thanks!

I like Naomi, have you thought about Noemi, along the same line, yet different.

Good names! I love Tess, Rose or Imogen.

I really like Felicity and Harriet. Not keen on the others (sorry). Least favourite is Tess.

I know sisters called Isabel and Imogen and their nn are Izzy & Immy, it's cute but not for everyone. I like Rose and Naomi from your list.

Oh and I agree with you re Tess of the D'urbervilles! I really hated that novel and bloody Angel what's-his-face acting like she had died when he discovered she wasn't a virgin. Ffs. I read it 'for fun' when I was 18, (I also read James Joyce in a nightclub to make a point - what an insufferable twat I was), and nearly threw it across the room when I got to that part.

What about Naomi Rose as a compromise?

Rose, Harriet and Test are all the nicer ones. I've skipped past all comments so I don't get influenced haha.

I really don't like Imogen but everyone else seems to like it at the moment.

Felicity; Naomi and Violet I'm not too fussed on.

Tess not Test. Same auto correct.

What about Zoe/Zoey?

I love Felicity - I know a little Felicity nn Fizzy. And i agree with you that Rose is lovely in its own right and not often used as a first name.

Naomi, Tess, Imogen I'm not keen on.

I like Hatty as a nickname for Harriet.

Felicity is the one I'm least keen on - a bit "posh" sounding to me.

Rose is lovely for all the reasons you stated.

Tess by a country mile , I know it's not a goer for you. I really loved it for our dd3 but my husband just doesn't like it. The book ruined it for him and he doesn't like the sound of it.

I really like Gabrielle, as a later suggestion. From your original list I think the next best is Imogen even with an Isobel as a sibling. You'll have 3 dds so it's not like you need to say Isobel and Imogen together if you're worried about that.

Rose - I know 2 children ( an 8 year old and a baby) called Rose. For me it just doesn't lend itself well to a child's name. It's a bit blah. I find Naomi a bit dated. Felicity a bit insubstantial, I like Violet and Harriet I don't like.

Oh you should use Rose.

It's beautiful in its simplicity and rare as a given name.
