12 days to go and can't agree on her name

So I am having a planned section in 12 days with our second daughter.
We have a 4 year old Eloise (love her name)
Problem this time is I was shocked we were having another girl although very happy but I've never felt any other name I can think of its as unique as Eloise.
So a few months ago was just throwing ideas around and I suggested Zara as I think it's pretty. Instantly OH fell in love with it and DD has constantly referred to my growing bump as Zara.
Safely though I just dint feel this is her name? I feel I'm being pushed into this.
I've tried suggested others I like
Violet
Isla
Harriet
Evie
But DD gets quite upset when I try to suggest that might not be her name and says no I like Zara
OH isn't interested in other names
So is Zara so bad? How does it feel to others?
OH says he looked it up and it is a derivative of Sarah (my name) and means princess
Help!!!

I like Zara.

I also like Lana which is a bit less used I think

Barefootcontessa84 · 21/05/2016 08:15

Zara is a great name - the rest of your list are very of the moment, very much overused, and to me in totally different taste to Eloise and Zara (except for Harriet - Harriet goes well with Eloise!)

Zara is an absolutely beautiful name. I prefer it to your other suggestions. And as others have said, it's good for DD to be involved. I think Zara is well known enough that she won't have to say "with a Z", and it's sufficiently different from Sarah too. It also goes really nicely with Eloise.

sonlypuppyfat · 21/05/2016 09:24

I know a Harriette which is lovely

1horatio · 21/05/2016 09:33

Zara is cute. I also like Violet :)

I personally think Eloise & Clara or Eloise & Cara would be lovely...

PinkParsnips · 21/05/2016 09:37

I think Eloise and Zaragoza are lovely together and it's my favourite name out of your list.

Dangerouswoman · 21/05/2016 09:37

Much prefer Zara to your other names especially Violet.

PinkParsnips · 21/05/2016 09:37

Ahh sorry I meant Zara of course, predictive text!! Angry

AHellOfABird · 21/05/2016 09:45

rightguard · 21/05/2016 09:49

I have a zara and she doesn't really get called Sara.

srslylikeomg · 21/05/2016 09:55

My kids nicknamed the latest baby Biscuit and referred to her as such throughout the pregnancy. They were heartbroken when we named her Iris but they got over it! What in saying is that your four year old will forget Zara, if you change it she'll adapt, she won't really associate the bump with the baby anyway so... Call her what you and DH want. I am not sold on Zara, I like violet v much!

LowAMH · 21/05/2016 09:56

Zara really is lovely and I don't think people will confuse it with Sara.

IoraRua · 21/05/2016 10:01

Your four year old will forget about the name, but you won't. This is a decision for you and your DH. Personally I'd get back on the baby name sites and each come up with a list, see if there is any common ground.

bakeoffcake · 21/05/2016 10:02

You really don't need to choose a name because DD1 really likes it!

If we had done that, DD2 would have been called 'Sunshine' at DD1's insistenceGrin

Choose a name that you and DH both love and dd1 will get used to it.

After saying that I think Zara is lovely.

regularbutpanickingabit · 21/05/2016 10:08

Zara is a great name but if you don't love it and I bad something you do love, then you have to use the new name. Zara would be good for a middle name too.

What a both Amelie? Eloise and Amelie Zara sounds beautiful and continues the French vibe.

SoThatHappened · 21/05/2016 10:57

When your dds are older and screaming at each other saying they hate each other yes it will happen

Wont you be glad you didnt take the decision away from your elder dd to name her Zara?!

Your elder child wont care later on. Look for other names as an alternative.

ABitAsleep · 23/05/2016 15:39

I do really like Zara :)

If you really don't like it, could you not choose something similar sounding or rhyming;

Tara
Sara
Cara
Lara
Mara

Tora
Torla
Tia
Laura
Lila
Lia
Lyra
Cora
Clara
Coral
Mia
Maia
Mila
Zia
Zoe
Zelda
Jana
Rhia

Italiangreyhound · 23/05/2016 15:44

What until she is born and then name her. Your dd does not get to name a sibling unless you want her to!

As the only perosn having major surgery to bring dd2 into the world I say you get final say on name.

Violet would be my choice.Out of your choices. But my all time fav name is Cassia.

Keep Zara as middle name if you like.

nectarini1983 · 23/05/2016 17:57

I really like Zara. I completely agree with whoever said up thread that this is a decision for you and your OH, you can talk a 4 yo into liking whatever you decide.

My ds wanted to call dd2 Cement Mixer!

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 23/05/2016 22:53

What's wrong with letting a big sibling name the younger ones?

Sausage and pizza love their unusual names...

Porcupinetree · 24/05/2016 11:08

Just listen to your daughter, Zara is a lovely name!

frenchielala · 24/05/2016 12:30

Just remember that Zara is also the name of a shop. A friend of mine has a daughter of 13 called Zara and is constantly asked by other children why she named after a shop, was it her mums fave shop etc.. One mean girl even started calling her Topshop as a joke Sad

Not the worst thing to be teased about.. but a consideration. I think it is a pretty worldwide store too.

frenchielala · 24/05/2016 12:31

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Ahh just read your comment and it actually cracked me up!! I'm still laughing. 'Darling sausage.... '
