Eric?

Love thinking about names. If I were to ever have another DS, thought this might be a contender.

I think it's rather cool, and, as evidenced from my other threads, I'm very keen on fresh, not-used-much names and felt this would tick all categories.

What does anyone think?

I love it! Kind of classic without being overused and still fresh sounding.

It's a great name.

Heartbroken4 · 17/05/2016 23:18

I know one but he is Danish, spelled "Erik".

julfin · 17/05/2016 23:25

It definitely falls into the category of fresh and not-much-used.

My two main associations with Eric are a) Bananaman and b) the blond boy in Guess Who with the blue eyes and the hat. (You may recall that the latter was one of the unluckiest characters to get, because only about 5 characters had blue eyes, and only about 5 had hats, so once your opponent had established those two facts, it was very easy to work out your card.)

ANYway, aside from all that, I think I like the name. It's kind of old-man-chic, which is all the rage at the mo.

Love it.

Such a nice name and weirdly underused.

Isn't Simon Cowell's son named Eric?

SolemnGrundy · 17/05/2016 23:33

Yes to Bananaman Grin.

I'm not keen on it personally.

We met a little Eric the other week. Named after his grandad. Or great grandad.

cecilelliott · 18/05/2016 10:44

Yes of course the Bananaman connection! That must be why I have an unconscious attraction to the name!

It is indeed a fab name! Now just need a baby boy to give the name to!

I like it!

hownottofuckup · 18/05/2016 23:38

Don't like it at all, definitely wouldn't describe it as 'fresh'

ScarletForYa · 18/05/2016 23:39

To me it's dull and fogeyish, like Nigel or Derek or Kevin.

Thanks all for opinions. I still really like it! Amazingly, met a little one in the playground yesterday-his dad was Swedish. Sounded great among all the Finns, Tobys,Theos and Leos!
