Baby names

Does a girls name exist that isn't overly popular, sound similar to something overly popular, about to become overly popular or just plain boring or dated?

Really don't want to go for the so called 'classic names', as it just seems so boring (I know for lots of people they're not boring, I just think they're dull), personally can't stand the Eva, Ava, Sophie, Lily names. Quite like harder sounding names like Edith, Enid, Maud, Agnes, but these may well be the next type of name to become fashionable. Completely get that people like the types of names I have mentioned, but can I avoid the above scenarios in any way. Friends who have recently had babies have gone for things like Cecily, Otto, Margot, Beatrice etc, but I know at least 2 under 6 months of each of these so I imagine they may become super popular as well. I know it shouldn't matter but it does! Hit me with ideas please...

Choose a name that was popular in the 80's plenty of adult ones, but not many babies!

Can't help with suggestions but have 3 dc. One has a top 10 name (from year of birth and every year since), one has consistently mid-table name and one has not been in top 100 for any year I have checked, pre or post birth.

Guess which one shares her name with 2 others in her year at school?

Just pick your favourite name, the rest is out if your control and not worth worrying about.

What PP said about not being able to win this game. My mother had selected my name pre-birth but changed it when she found that 4/5 of the other mothers on her ward had gone for the same name. I have never since come across another person of my generation with this name. But there were three other girls in my class with the name she chose instead to avoid saddling me with a "popular" name.

My first girl's name was alway my favourite name ever. It wasn't even slightly popular. It's very old fashioned. Called DD that name, then a footballer's kid got it, then another sleb gave it to their kid, suddenly it's in the top 10 or 20.

It's still my favourite name though.

When I was a child in the 60's, my name was very uncommon, and I hated it because I always had to repeat it as people seemed unsure about it. I never met another.

By the seventies it was a very popular name, and I got sick of hearing it. Now it is out of favour again.

There are no guarantees with names at all. A few years ago people would have laughed if you called your child Evelyn or Ava.

Choose something you like and don't worry about trying to be unique.
