We like too many names, it's ridiculous. We seriously don't have a favourite...

I thought I'd turn it into a little game, that you can help with! Please tell me your favourite and least favourite, I'll then put those into separate piles; if someone then likes the opposite, it'll go back - it makes sense in my head! So, what's your favourite and least favourite (pick only 1).

They are all lovely names. I can't take the suspense anymore, also v tired! Good luck, and hope that your lovely baby lets you have some sleep on which to mull over his name!

LotsofDots, don't go now! You have to fight for Matthew!

Also, I'm hoping this idea takes off and I can spend every Sunday evening on a Mumsnet naming committee. And you're pregnant! Come back in 12 weeks time!

Somerville · 01/05/2016 23:05

That is the problem with a committee, Maryz

FlopIsMyHero · 01/05/2016 23:07

Late to this thread, but I love it! Grin Alexander is a fabulous name Smile

WiIdfire · 01/05/2016 23:07

Looks like it's down to
Alexander James Walker
Matthew James Walker

So, thinking nicknames.
Alexander: Alex, Xander, Lex, AJ, Sandy, Sascha, Ali, Alec.
Matthew: Matt, Matty, MJ, Math.

Any of these sound good/awful?

CutYourHairAndGetAJob · 01/05/2016 23:07

Of the ones left :

Favourite - Alexander
Least favourite - James

ANewLittleBoy · 01/05/2016 23:07

Oh guys, don't make me feel bad that your favourites aren't left! Sad

Hang on, to the people left, what is your favourite name, out of all the names?

I withdraw my Luke.

You cannot in all straight faced honesty go to the registry and call him Luke Walker.

Somerville · 01/05/2016 23:08

Imagining breakfast time in OP's house.

OP 'I like them aaaallll.'

OP's DH 'Just pour any random one in a bowl for me love.'

LotsofDots · 01/05/2016 23:08

I'm still here... Just!

Matthew is an excellent name, I haven't come across a baby Matthew recently.
While this is indeed an excellent way to have filled my Sunday evening, I don't think DH would cope - I can't get him to suggest any names, let alone a shortlist of 42!

PamelaPatriciaYouCanCallMePam · 01/05/2016 23:08

Yes Luke has to go!

WiIdfire · 01/05/2016 23:09

Only downside to this process is that by definition, you end up with a popular name, so likely to be one of several in his class.

I didnt think Alexander was that popular when we chose it, but there are three in my MN antenatal/postnatal group!

LotsofDots · 01/05/2016 23:09

Luke went ages ago!

ANewLittleBoy · 01/05/2016 23:09

Somer that's exactly how it goes GrinGrinGrin

My favourite is still in the running, Matthew.

Somerville · 01/05/2016 23:10

He is GORGEOUS.

Making-me-broody gorgeous.

Still say Alexander.

MyBootsAreMuddy · 01/05/2016 23:10

OK so I've just asked dd1 and her friend who's here for a sleepover. They are both 16 so good for a teenage coolness vote!

They both said Alexander nn Xander is supper cool and the 2 they know are really nice. They said the Alex they know is cool too.

Least fave of both is James...because of the 4 they know all have been 'complete arse and one is a total creep'!

WiIdfire · 01/05/2016 23:10

Haha! Luke Walker! You definitely have to go with Luke Walker! What a wasted opportunity otherwise. 😂😂😂

thumb3lina · 01/05/2016 23:11

I think Alexander James suits him Smile

37PiecesOfFlair · 01/05/2016 23:12

For what it's worth, I've enjoyed reading this thread and I like James Alexander Walker the bestest. Congrats! Smile

LotsofDots · 01/05/2016 23:12

Dark greener website says
ALEXANDER (boys): Down from 14th to 22nd
MATTHEW (boys): Down from 6th to 49th

If that helps?

McCunty · 01/05/2016 23:12

My fav is still George, he looks like a George (I know George is gone though)
If I had to pick maybe James, not keen on any left though, sorry,

PamelaPatriciaYouCanCallMePam · 01/05/2016 23:12

Still Alexander here. Than doesn't count but I'm shamelessly placemarking.

FastWindow · 01/05/2016 23:13

Ive always had a yen for Mathew. With a missing T. Nickname Mat, not Matt.

Sets one apart from the herd, ?
