Do you like this name? :)

I don't think it would go with surname so was considering it perhaps as a middle name

not even pregnant but humour meGrin

Its too dated for me, I don't know any Helens under 40...

BestIsWest · 01/05/2016 18:00

Classic name imho.

TheCatsMeow · 01/05/2016 18:00

I know a few Helens who are under 25. I don't have a strong opinion on it - it's an inoffensive name.

springtimevintagedream · 01/05/2016 18:03

I know LOADS of Helens around my age (32) but none under about 25.

Lots of my friends would think the baby was named in their honour [smile

Well I know 2. I like it think you would find more Helena or helenes these days.

septembersunshine · 01/05/2016 18:07

No, not much. But I think Helena is gorgeous.

MadameJosephine · 01/05/2016 19:05

Don't like it sorry. Helena is lovely though. I think quite a few names are totally transformed by an added 'a' (egJulia, Anna, Sophia) and this is definitely one of them

ummlilia · 01/05/2016 19:11

My daughter is Helen- she is 27- so obviously I like it. I like Helena too..

cosmicglittergirl · 01/05/2016 19:14

I'm a Helen (under 40, gasp!), and I'm not keen.

LadyAntonella · 01/05/2016 19:20

I really like it. I know a toddler with this name and it really suits her.

Elllicam · 01/05/2016 19:21

I like it. Unusual but not weird.

confusedandemployed · 01/05/2016 19:24

I'm a Helen. It's Avery meh name IMO.

Also, all the Helens on TV are usually the wronged wives, the victims. I wonder if it's seen as a timid name by some.

I'm not timid!

Ludways · 01/05/2016 19:39

I know loads my age (49), also one who is 12. It's a bit boring, IMHO

BestIsWest · 01/05/2016 20:04

I've notice that about Helens being victims too. I think it's often used to portray the 'good' girl or woman.

Fourormore · 01/05/2016 20:05

I love it.

quitecrunchy · 01/05/2016 20:17

I like it. To me it says a strong woman - interested to see that it's the opposite for others. Much prefer it to Helena. I think the fact it's quite unusual nowadays for children gives it charm.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 01/05/2016 20:24

Helena is much prettier

DailyMailDick · 01/05/2016 20:28

Helen is lovely. Helena is boring. Why does every name have to end in an 'a' these days.

Helen sounds strong.

Helena reminds me of Helena Bonham Carter Confused

Topseyt · 01/05/2016 20:28

No problem with it, but then, I am a Helen.

I will be 50 this summer.

If I were to think of giving it to a baby it would be in the form of Helena, probably.

Sophronia · 01/05/2016 20:40

I like Helen, I think it's a strong name.

RiverTam · 01/05/2016 20:41

I'm not keen, it feels very dated to me, and quite dull. I prefer Helena.

FinnigansCake · 01/05/2016 20:44

I love it, it's definitely due a revival!

thatsn0tmyname · 01/05/2016 20:44

I'm a Helen. I like it. I've taught a few Helens and they are pretty, studious typesSmile

Coldtoeswarmheart · 01/05/2016 20:46

I think it's a bit 70's TBH. Like Karen or Clare.

villainousbroodmare · 01/05/2016 20:49

I love it. I prefer it to Helena. I also like Heléne and Eibhlín.
It's a classic, a name of a great beauty, simple and elegant, feminine but in no way frilly. I'd say it's a near perfect name imo.
