Middle name for Penelope?

We thought we were fully decided on Jemima, but have since thought we might like Penelope instead.

We can't think of a middle name we both love with it though. Need something that doesn't start with D and that doesn't have a "y" sound at the end (eg Lily Evie etc).

Would appreciate any inspiration!

LucilleLeSueur · 30/04/2016 07:50

I can't quite move beyond Lane and Dreadful myself 😉

Some great suggestions here - thank you. I really like Jean even though it's not a name I like, usually.

All four of my other two DDs' names are mentioned as well so you're all on the right track.

I actually prefer Jemima too but for some reason Penny is feeling more "right" for this baby. Think we're going to wait until she comes out to decide - it's weird though, both times before we had both names fully chosen in advance.

I think with Penelope, the middle name should either be monosyllabic eg Penelope Jane, or if more than one syllable it should have the emphasis on the first syllable eg Penelope Rachel.

I think Penelope is a beautiful classic name. Prefer it to jemima, although that's nice too.

Suzietwo · 02/05/2016 14:54

I have a Penelope rose. She was going to be violet but the drugs made me want something softer.

She should have been called Roxanne

butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 15:31

I think it should definitely be one syllable.

Penelope Rose, Penelope Jean, Penelope Kate and Penelope Grace are all nice.

How about:

Penelope Claire
Penelope Jane
Penelope Anne
Penelope Eve
Penelope Faye
Penelope Joy
Penelope May *
Penelope June (*both good if you're expecting shortly!)
Penelope Maeve
Penelope Ruth

Clarathemagnificent · 02/05/2016 15:34

Penelope Jean is the first name that came to mind. I think they sound lovely together.

butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 15:37

Jean's a funny one. I think as a first name it sounds a bit plain and old-fashioned, but as a middle name it sounds lovely, and goes really well with Penelope.

butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 15:50

I've just spent the last 10 minutes thinking what a lovely name Penelope Jean is and getting baby name envy because neither Penelope nor Jean would work in my other half's language. I need to get a life, haha. Smile
