Not keen on any I'm afraid. Isla is too popular and the other two will be forever mispronounced.

Ayla is very pretty Smile

LemonBreeland · 28/04/2016 10:53

tbh if you are in Scotland then I think you can go with Isla. I find it strange when people use it in England. It seems to me like using a very French or Italian name but with no connection to those countries.

I'm English, although I have lived in Scotland a long time, and what I have noticed is that a lot of people up here, where I live anyway, use names that are traditionally Scottish, rather than going with trends. There are many Camerons, Donalds, Islas Eilidhs etc.

What about similar names to those you mentioned?

Iona
Ava
Evie/Eve/Eva
Sophie
Maeve/Maud
Leah

Mila

VaVaVooom · 30/04/2016 22:16

Love Mila pronounced My-la though. I know a Mila (My-la) and have always loved her name.

1horatio · 01/05/2016 20:02

I absolutely love Mila, I would pronounce it like Mila Kunis...?
But Ayla is also very lovely.

Undercooked · 01/05/2016 21:32

I live in an area with a large Eastern European community and there are lots is Milas here. Much more popular than Isla. I like Ayla myself.

septembersunshine · 03/05/2016 16:07

What about Maya? Pronounced My-ah. It's softer sounding then Mila. Or you could have Maia. Isla is fine but to me it is ways prettier written down then spoken!

BabyTheCaveLion · 03/05/2016 16:26

Love Ayla. I'm a massive fan of the clan of the cave bear books and Ayla is the main character. If I had a girl she'd be Ayla but I have 2 boys.

elor11 · 03/05/2016 19:59

Isla and Ayla nice. Mila I would always pronounce My-la

Bellalilysmith123 · 09/05/2016 00:55

Isla so petty and classic

TheCaptainsCat · 09/05/2016 11:38

Mila is nice, but it is a nickname. I don't like nicknames as 'full' names, so personally I'd use Milena and Mila as a pet name.

ShmooBooMoo · 09/05/2016 11:40

Mila

then Ayla though don't really like it.

I am ed up of hearing Isla.... It seems to be everywhere!

ShmooBooMoo · 09/05/2016 11:41

I saw this somewhere yesterday Aina pronounced Eye-na

sonlypuppyfat · 09/05/2016 11:46

Ayla and if you ever had a boy you could call him Jondalar

LeonoraFlorence · 09/05/2016 11:52

Isla :)

MyNewBearTotoro · 09/05/2016 11:55

Ayla is my favourite. Isla is lovely but very popular at the moment, I know quite a few under threes with the name. I'm not so keen on Mila and also my first thought would have been to pronounce it My-la as in a female version of Milo.
