I know a Linus and Silas who are half German. They are used to having it pronounced the English way in school/ friends and German way by parents/ grandparent/ aunts/ uncles/ cousins. I think it works in all Euro languages?

Still love David though (but it is my Dad's name so couldn't use it on ds2, as ILs would have not been happy). If you love a name, no need to not use it because you know someone. I do like Nathaniel but see it as more religious than Matthias, maybe because Matthias is not a common name in English bible (it is Matthew), though I think there is a mention of one, possibly, like Linus). I like Joel a lot too.

Well, Matthew is (imo) strictly anglophone. And seeing as I've never even read the bible in English.... Linus and Silas work in most European languages, I think. But Silas is a bit... sinister imo (sorry!! If I met a little Silas I'd surely change my opinion!!).

I generally agree with you about names. But the name of my ex's husband? The name of my best friend's husband? He's a truly nice and lovely guy. But, I'm not sure about that one. This seems too... Idk. Just not good.

Grin. Yes, Matthew is v anglophone, but it is why Matthias isn't really seen as biblical here, I think. Probably people would think 'Scandi'. So intrigued on your girl names now!

Girl names are either Louisa, Carina, Miranda or Dora. :) Still not sure yet...

Like all those! But still not Cedric.

Right now it looks like:

Louisa Carina Patience
Carina Patricia Temperance
Miranda Carina Patience

Cedric Patrick Orion
Nathaniel/Nathanael Corvus Patrick
Anton Corvus Patrick

And thank you for saying that :) I feel like girl names are muuuch easier...

I dunno...I always feel like there's more choice with girls' names. I love Patience. Not sure about 2 names ending in 'a' though (although tbh we never ever use middle names, just on passport and discussed with school friends occasionally). Don't use up all your favourite names in one name! What if you have another girl? I met a little 'Thiago' today which is a lovely name (he was also v adorable). Anything goes in London!

Louisa and Carina are both really lovely. And I've always loved Nathaniel, and Anton is good too.

Not so keen on cedric. Re Patricia, I feel as if it ought to be nice ( as it's a good Roman name) but somehow I just can't get past the fact that it sounds like a 60 year old.
