My OH's grandad has had Westie since he was a boy and all of them have been called Crystal. I can't get past that I'm afraid.

It's a hooker's name.

And by hooker, I mean it's the name all hookers in movies give to their Johns. Maybe it was glamorous in the 80's. It's horrendous now by association.

I have a close friend called Crystal and she hates it. She's very well educated and has a great job but people have been very unkind about her name and she's had to actively tackle a lot of prejudice at work because of it.

I do actually know two strippers called Crystal. But then I also know strippers called Charlotte, Georgia, Rosie, Grace, Isabelle, names associated with lovely young ladies. If you like it, use it.

I know not everyone likes every name but some of the comments are just nasty.

All this about 'stripper' names! I know quite a few little girls as well as older people called crystal and you wouldn't mistake them for a stripper! One of the SENchildren I support is a Crystal and I don't think' Stripper!!'

The baby names section is somewhere that people usually want honest opinions. A lot of people might have a negative opinion of a name, but would never say so in real life. So it can be good to know what people may be thinking, but wouldn't tell you.

Dynasty for me though I know that spelt with a 'k'. I find it quite a harsh-looking word.
