Naomi and Claudia

DD1 is Naomi-would love Claudia for DD2 but DH is convinced people will think we named them after supermodels (Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer)

Obv this isn't the case and would be a bit cringe if people thought that, but i would be surprised if people really made the connection?!

What do you think?

If not Claudia I think Madeleine would be my second choice but not sure it flows so well with our surname....

Gorgeous names.
I love Naomi

DurhamDurham · 01/05/2016 19:43

My first thought was that they are lovely names and my second that they are supermodels.

A mum at school had twins several years ago and named them David and Victoria, she later claimed she was genuinely surprised that people made the connection with the Beckhams.

I doubt you'd have the same with your chosen names as its not so obvious.

neonrainbow · 01/05/2016 19:59

Claudia is utterly beautiful. Do it anyway because we need more claudias! (That might be my preferred name if i ever have a girl) Grin

Hushabyelullaby · 01/05/2016 20:22

I didn't think of the connection straight away, and when I did it didn't make the slightest difference to me. Lovely names!

MiriAmmerman · 02/05/2016 12:57

My first thought was that they are gorgeous names that go well together. My second thought was to assume that you are Jewish (I am, and for that reason have probably met more Naomis and Claudias than the general population...) Would never have made the supermodel connection if you hadn't said, and I don't think it's a problem anyway - it's not like you want Linda when your surname is Evangelista.
Fwiw, I much prefer Claudia to Lily, and I think it goes better with Naomi. Naomi and Claudia are both strong names to my ears - I find Lily a bit wet quite soft in comparison.

VaVaVooom · 02/05/2016 14:19

No, didn't Spring to mind, both lovely names. Besides, could have worse connotations than gorgeous successful women!

GoldenWorld · 02/05/2016 18:39

But Lily is a supermodel name as well....Lily Cole. You could always try that argument to put your DH off Lily! But when I first read Naomi and Claudia, I didn't think of the models at all, just thought they are great names that go really well together.

BikeRunSki · 02/05/2016 18:44

I made the connect lion straight away. I'm not at all fashions, but Naomi C and Claudia S were the celebs of my youth. I suspect most people under 30 wouldn't make the connection.

Biscuitsneeded · 02/05/2016 18:45

I think I would assume that sisters called Naomi and Claudia are Jewish. The supermodel connection wouldn't occur to me at all.

Cosycottage4 · 02/05/2016 18:56

Thanks for all the feedback! We are not Jewish but I'm not bothered if people think we are. DH is slowly coming round as I read him these replies! Smile

Mr cosycottage agree to claudia its stunning!!

HighDataUsage · 02/05/2016 22:27

Claudia is a lovely Biblical name but it also means lame. It's whether you want a name which sounds beautiful only or to have one which is also meaningful as well.

AngharadTheSplendid · 02/05/2016 23:08

Stand your ground op, Claudia is so fabulous compared to overused lily!

Cosycottage4 · 03/05/2016 08:19

Thankfully lily has now been abandoned Wink I'm definitely getting there!!

Claudia also means perseverance.

Looly71 · 03/05/2016 10:40

It was my first thought on seeing title of your post but surely that is only people of q certain age. I'm mid 40s

FeralBeryl · 03/05/2016 10:43

I loved all the supermodels back in the day but I didn't connect them.
Absolutely beautiful names, totally complement each other too. Pull pregnancy rank and insist on your choice Grin
Congratulations too Flowers

daisydalrymple · 03/05/2016 11:07

I just thought what perfectly matched names tbh! Pretty and not overly popular, go really well together. I'm early 40s so of that era, and the supermodel thing didn't occur to me at all.

Laniakea · 03/05/2016 14:25

It wouldn't have occurred to me either ... I really like both names (I have a 15yo Claudia so am biased!)

LadyAntonella · 03/05/2016 14:34

Lovely names and I didn't make the supermodel connection. If you'd said Agyness and Cara now...

Cosycottage4 · 04/05/2016 21:28

Thanks so much everyone, I'm more and more convinced we HAVE to have a Claudia!

What about Rebecca/Rebekah or Abbie/Abigail I think they go really well with Naomi
