Hi ladies,

first baby, a little girl, is due next week. Would love to know your opinions on the below names and what is your favourite.

  1. Freya
  2. Holly
  3. Eve

Thanks!

Holly is a lovely name and underused. Eve is a great name too but very popular along with Ava, Evie and Eva. Sorry but I don't like Freya.

BikeRunSki · 07/04/2016 21:22

All very popular, especially Eve. I like Freya best.

MrsBungle · 07/04/2016 21:24

Holly.

marmitecrumpets · 07/04/2016 21:25

Holly

peachypips · 07/04/2016 21:27

Holly. Other two (particularly Eve) are very popular.
Holly Evelyn?

justdontevenfuckingstart · 07/04/2016 21:28

Freya, but cos I like Frey, people will shorten names. My dd1 has hers shortened to a perfectly acceptable name by her friends but I personally hate it.

DurhamDurham · 07/04/2016 21:29

They're all quite popular, I know lots of Hollys but they are all lovely too. If I had to choose I'd choose Eve ( but would prefer Eva or Ava )

peachypips · 07/04/2016 21:30

Holly Evangeline?

PotteringAlong · 07/04/2016 21:30

Holly!

KP86 · 07/04/2016 21:32

Of those three, Freya is my favourite but I also don't mind Holly.

I would pick Lucy over Holly (for some reason they are linked in my head).

Not a fan of Eve.

Gemmy1983 · 07/04/2016 21:33

So holly seems the fave so far.

Middle name is Marie for family reasons.

Freya

My DS3 would have been a Freya.

Holly and Eve are nice too though. There are a lot of Eva's and Ava's around so an Eve would maybe get lost amongst them all.

mrsschu · 07/04/2016 21:38

Eve is my favourite by far, although Eva is nicer again. Funnily I know only one child Eva and no Eve's (apart from one who's about 35). I know quite a lot of Holly's and a few Freya's as well. Freya is my least favourite, it will date very quickly. I've never come across anyone over 5 called Freya.

Undercooked · 07/04/2016 21:43

MrsS, my best friend at school was Freya, I am nearly 40! I also know an 18 year old and a 9 year old Freya. It's a name that's been popular quite a while.

I like Eve best but it is v v popular.

mydogeatsnutstoo · 07/04/2016 22:12

Freya and Eve are nice but v popular.

Holly is a bit meh

None are very exciting to be honest - what about Frieda/ Freda, similar to Freya but a bit different.

I'll go with Eve.

Sophronia · 07/04/2016 22:51

Freya

Salfordlass · 07/04/2016 23:02

Freya is the Norse goddess of love and 25th most popular name in Britain apparantly. I always imagine a blonde, blue eyed girl suits this name as its Scandinavian. Not as keen on eve (sounds too much like evil, silly i know) and is very popular along with holly although I think there's more likely more hollys aged around 10-12 as its a bit ten years ago isn't it? More suited to someone born at xmas ( maybe I'm being daft tho, I always associate names with something else) I think Freya my fave.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 07/04/2016 23:07

I like Holly best, but think it's the wrong season. How about Flora - lovely name for the spring.

Freya and Eve will date, badly, although I do think Eve Marie is cool.

I like flora but unfortunately it's also the name of a cheap sandwich spread. It would put me off (see, name association I can't help it)

Salfordlass · 07/04/2016 23:12

I love the name iris, I had it as my top three for one of my ds's but my dp hated it(he disliked iris Murdoch) and irises are such beautiful, unusual flowers. I still regret not using it as its quite unusual.

Salfordlass · 07/04/2016 23:14

I also love Edith, shortened to edie, It's such a cool name I think (edith Piaf, Edie sedgewick, Edith bowman - all pretty cool chicks)

mrsschu · 07/04/2016 23:44

Undercooked I guess I was simply saying that I have never met any Freya's over 5, not that they don't exist in the world Grin. I would make the same point about Eve, I know one who is 35 (and come to think of it, one who would be in her early 40's now) so to me it isn't a name that will date necessarily. But hey, this is all just opinion, right?!
