I'm not a fan of just John, I'm also not keen on Jonathan.

What do you think of Johnny. I know 2, where Johnny is their full name!

I was going to say no because of Boden but they spell it -ie rather than -y. Maybe still a no if your surname starts with B and you live in a place with lots of Boden mums?

I think it sounds great and quite an underused name considering the popularity of names ending in a -y sort of sound like Harry, Ollie, Archie, Bertie.

I am not aware of any connection with Boden but Johnny is slang for lots of unpleasant things, which would put me off.

Op, I like Johnny but it's too nicknamey for me, I like it as nn for jonathan.

As a grown up he will spend a lot of time telly people it's not John or Jonathan. I think it's a bit mean because of the rubber Jonny association. I am only known by my nickname but have a grown up name on my official documents (think Lizzie and Elizabeth) and I much prefer it to bring just "Lizzie".

I know loads of guys called Johnny and I've never heard any of them being teased with the condom association!

It's just a standard name in my world.

I also know a Jonny (shortened from a longer name) and condoms aren't an association that's ever come up.

I think it's dreadful. 'John' isn't exactly exciting, but it's a name. Johnny is not.

I much prefer John or Jonathan. Johnnie sounds so nicknamey.
