Pretty and classic or a little bit boring?

Or it could be both I suppose!

Really like it as a first name!

HalfwayUpALadder · 01/04/2016 12:57

Love it... But not for a baby born in May Grin

Sophronia · 01/04/2016 12:58

Pretty and classic.

Imps9 · 01/04/2016 13:00

...or conceived in May too I think Grin

I really like this name - it's very pretty and classic, but hasn't been 'rediscovered' yet so will be unusual.

Also, there was a lovely woman called May who worked at our local ice cream parlour when I was growing up, so it has good associations for me!

My grandmother was called May Smile. It's a nice name but I've been put off it as every third baby girl seems to be Olivia May or Hermione May or whatever. And the other two thirds of baby girls have Rose or Grace as a middle name. I've become very bored of it which is a shame.

Imps9 · 01/04/2016 13:49

That's the thing - I think it's quite over-used as a middle name and wouldn't use it for that, but because middle names aren't often used on a daily basis, you don't actually hear or see the name very often. That's what makes me think it would be better as a first name.

Does that make any sense?!

My great Nan was called May and she was a lovely lovely lovely lady.

I'm a bit biased but I really like it Smile

It's a lovely name (for any time of year, May or not).

I think of Faye as similar too.

SevenOhTwo · 01/04/2016 21:34

Like it a lot. Mae is pretty too, and Maeve.

I've never met any - the only one I can think of is the lady off the Sewing Bee (May Martin?)

I think it's much better as a first name than middle name too - always sounds weird as a middle name to me as sounds like you are saying e.g. Katie may do something, rather than it being a name iyswim.
