Wondering whether to use Romilly, nn Romy or whether to go straight for Romy.

Any thoughts?

Wouldn't be so keen on nn Milly if that has any bearing!

Go for Romy then I'd say as Mill. Could easily creep in with Romilly. (Can't help but hear 'Romany' gypsy when I hear these names!)

YakTriangle · 28/03/2016 21:04

It makes me think of Rommel.
I'd go for Romy rather than Romilly.

Shapebandit · 28/03/2016 21:05

I love them both but Romy I think I love slightly more so I'd go straight for that

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 28/03/2016 21:06

Romilly, it just gives an extra option.

Love both Romilly and Romy,,lucky girl!

SellFridges · 28/03/2016 21:10

We have a Romilly, and assumed she would become a Romy. She hasn't - she's just Rom to pretty much everyone now. Nobody has ever even thought about calling her Milly which surprised us.

Thanks all!

Sell that's interesting, thanks Smile

I know 2 Romilly's both known as Romilly! I could never imagine either of them.being called Milly.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 28/03/2016 21:21

I love the name btw

NFmama · 28/03/2016 21:24

Romy Smile

Friolero · 28/03/2016 21:34

I love the name Romilly, I'd go for that rather than Romy.

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 21:38

Romilly just might get Milly, go with Romy

DaisyFranceLynch · 28/03/2016 21:39

I think they're both beautiful names. I also knew a Romy short for Rosemary, if that appeals...

Sophronia · 28/03/2016 21:48

Just Romy, or Romina nn Romy. Romilly makes me think of Rommel too.

mrsschu · 28/03/2016 21:56

Hmmm I don't like either at all but Romy is the slightly better of the two.

lovelilies · 28/03/2016 23:09

Romy makes me think of "Romy and Michelle's high school reunion"

Rosemary is lovely and could be Romy, as someone up thread has said.
Classic name and avoids Milly. Win win.

Rosaaa · 31/03/2016 20:38

I prefer Romilly with the nickname Romi / Romy

WhiteHairReally · 01/04/2016 01:13

Romola

mathanxiety · 01/04/2016 01:51

Romy is actually the established NN for Rosemary in German speaking countries (Romy Schneider for instance - born Rosemarie Albach).

I would use Romy.

Romilly sounds like a nonsense word from a nursery rhyme. ('The more it snows /Tiddly Pom')

Poppy339 · 01/04/2016 05:16

I like Romilly, and would use the nickname Romy, so you have the best of both worlds. I do like longer girls names, and Romilly is a lovely one.

sofato5miles · 01/04/2016 05:54

Romilly is lovely and I would give her the full name and call her Romy.

MissRabbitHasTooManyJobs · 01/04/2016 05:58

I absolutely love the name Romy and would have had it if my ds would have been a dd :)

DontKillMyVibe · 02/04/2016 19:55

Romy
