Help! If I have a Leo...

...can I have an Eloise? Or are they too samey, sound-wise? Oldest DS is Oscar, so it would be Oscar, Leo and Eloise. The other frontrunner for our soon-to-be-born DD is Beatrice but DH likes Eloise better. I love Rosa but he doesn't. Help!

I think it's fine. FYI the two Eloises I know are known as Ellie and Weezy for short.

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 12:49

It sounds absolutely fine! I prefer Eloise - it's beautiful Smile x

AtSea - I agree Grin

All the names are lovely, but Leo and Eloise are very similar.
I have a friend with 3DC called Liam, Lilly and Leanne. He reckons it was the worst choice in restrospect.

BreakfastLunchPasta · 28/03/2016 13:49

They are a tiny little bit tricky to say together. Lovely names though.

My dd's friend gets shortened to Elo :)

It seems that opinion is divided... would love more thoughts on this!

They don't sound very similar at all when I say them, I think they are fine!

SoftSheen · 28/03/2016 20:18

Personally, I do think that Leo and Eloise sound too similar.

Oscar, Leo and Beatrice sound fine.

Oscar, Leo and Rosa even better.

Also, as pp points out, Eloise is one of those names which can sound lovely in some accents, but rather unpleasant in others.

babymakesfive · 29/03/2016 00:54

Thank you for the feedback. SoftSheen, I see your point about accents affecting the loveliness of the name, but I think that applies to all the names on our shortlist! DH's family would almost certainly pronounce Beatrice as a two-syllable name - "beet-riss" Confused
