I keep going back and forth and can't decide whether I like it or not, opinions?

Hideous

Ilovenannyplum · 25/03/2016 10:24

It just makes me think of breaking bad

pambeesley · 25/03/2016 10:25

Disney!

Chimchar · 25/03/2016 10:26

Breaking bad. Not in a good way. Sorry!

Lindor · 25/03/2016 10:26

The Beano!

rhodes15 · 25/03/2016 10:27

I'm so glad someone has asked this as I've been thinking exactly the same. I quite like it. The only thing I'm bothered by is the nickname Wally.

EssentialHummus · 25/03/2016 10:27

...Whitman. (Don't watch Breaking Bad Grin )

It's ok but a bit old-fashioned.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 25/03/2016 10:28

No.

alltouchedout · 25/03/2016 10:28

My dad is called Walter. He's 64. He does not like it. He is very, very abrupt with people who call him Wally.

JeanGenie23 · 25/03/2016 10:30

I prefer Walt to Walter.

I love breaking bad but not many associations would put me off a name if I like it that much.

If you are changing your mind so frequently I would keep the name at the back of your mind but think of others.

What about Wilf?

WingMirrorSpider · 25/03/2016 10:31

Walter softy (Beano?)

I think it sounds a bit drippy tbh.

Bobbycatz · 25/03/2016 10:39

I hadn't thought about Wally, which I don't like. Rethinking the name now especially given the comments, I didnt realise it was that bad

Awful!

WorraLiberty · 25/03/2016 10:43

One of my DH's middle names is Walter (after an Uncle), and during our wedding vows I just couldn't say it because I took a fit of giggles every time I tried Blush

Sophronia · 25/03/2016 10:52

I'm in the minority but I like it!

petitdonkey · 25/03/2016 10:53

I teach a Walter who is lovely - his name is never shortened. He is 7.

albertcampionscat · 25/03/2016 13:31

I love it, but the Beano/Disney/Crystal Meth associations are just too much for it to be useable.

Bobbycatz · 25/03/2016 13:47

I haven't watched breaking bad, but see the Disney association.

I love the name Walter, think it's fab but I do have a really lovely friend with that name!

ScarlettDarling · 25/03/2016 17:23

Oh no op, it's truly dreadful!

sonlypuppyfat · 25/03/2016 17:24

It's like you people don't think bullies exist, please don't

Mclaren37 · 25/03/2016 22:22

I really like it, especially Walt for short. With the usual support of vintage / old and 'real' names on here I'm surprised at the lack of love for it actually! To me it falls into the same category as Stanley, Wilfred, Arthur... but maybe a bit cooler.

Moggysinger · 26/03/2016 10:34

It's on our list of possibles as it is a family name for both of us (great grandparent and great great grandparents!) Dh says his great-great grandpa used to get called 'wat' for short. I like how unusual it is, not sure we're a cool enough couple to pull it off but hopefully our dc might be! Dh loves it, as an avid reader of the beano as a child I do still associate it a little with Walter the softy. But it's definitely growing on me. Having never seen breaking bad that wouldn't bother me.

dljy · 01/04/2016 22:05

It is SUCH a cool name! So STRONG. Think it fell out of fashion after the war because of the German connection but it is awesome.

Also Bruce Willis' first name is Walter. Can't beat it!

sarahquilt · 02/04/2016 00:00

Wally is nice.
