Help

I have to register my little mans name in 2 hours and not sure what to call him, he's 7 weeks old so cannot extend with registrar.. Help

Short list was
Rex (too dog?)
Huxley (bit too unusual)
Zachary (bit American?)

We already have a Freya and a Zander as well as 2 little guys who were stillborn (Alex and Daniel) (think that's why it is so hard to name him)

OP posts:

That's really kind of her, you definitely need to make the right choice so now you have time at least! Smile

Bellasima20 · 18/03/2016 14:06

Rex- all the way OP!

Rex is not "A" dogs name, yes maybe centuries ago it was one of the few classic names people named their dogs, but have you met one dog now called Rex? Probably not, I've met several dog Jacks, a Donald, Bob and Lucy but do people say these are dogs names?!

Rex is strong, classic, individual, cheek and energetic, I adore it. It sounds beautiful and looks gorgeous written too. Just be brave, it pays off!
Saying that Zachary is great too.

Scattymere · 18/03/2016 14:08

Another vote for the fabulous Rex!
How on earth is it "boring"?! Super cute and cheeky on a boy and hot on a grown man, love it.

autumnmoon · 18/03/2016 14:16

Ahh, good that you have a bit of breathing space

Huxley and Rex are both lovely and go well with your other children's names. But if you hesitated, perhaps you need to think again. Good luck!

PurpleAlerts · 18/03/2016 14:22

Sorry don't particularly like Rex or Huxley.
Zachary is lovely but is quite similar to Zander.
How about:
Rory
Harley
Harrison
Fox
Edward (Teddy)
Wolfie

Xmasbaby11 · 18/03/2016 14:25

Enjoy choosing. It's important to choose a name you both love.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/03/2016 15:11

Aw that was nice of her Nicnar!

IoraRua · 18/03/2016 15:21

I don't like Huxley, it sounds like someone retching.
Rex - no, hate it. Reminds me of toilet paper.
Zachary is lovely though!

IoraRua · 18/03/2016 15:23

Hit post too soon...I do think Zachary and Zander are very similar though. So I would keep looking.

thisismypassword · 18/03/2016 16:02

Huxley is a cartoon pig isn't he? It sounds like pugsley from the Addams family. Zachary is the best one.

Sounds to me you and hubby are only half-hearted about the names on your shortlist. Had you been truely excited about any of them, there would be no need for an extension.

Your son deserves better than a half-hearted name that clearly neither you or your husband are that crazy about. I'd scrap all of them and go through a list of baby names again with fresh eyes. Now your son is here, one of the names you didn't think about before might now catch your eye and fit him.

Scattymere · 18/03/2016 18:45

what charming comments Iora...how can anyone have such passionate, aggressive hatred of a name?! Remember some people like these names, are considering them or have DCs called them, fine to say er no...and reminds me of this or that, but your comments are very OTT. Calm down!

IoraRua · 18/03/2016 20:19

I don't need to calm down at all scatty, perfectly relaxed. I just personally hate the name Rex.
The same as some MNers hate the names Kai, Jayden, Artemis, Hortensia etc etc I am sure.
I have seen the name I called my kid slated on here, but you know what, I got over it. If a random stranger disliking the name on the internet caused me serious emotional damage (on a forum which does regularly review baby names!) I would have to have a serious look at myself.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 18/03/2016 22:38

Anyway....

How about Dexter? it has elements of Rex and Huxley.

Harris
Evan
Hayden
Austin (Ozzy)
Oscar (Ozzy)

OneMagnumisneverenough · 18/03/2016 22:40

or Ezekiel (Zeke)
or Keir

TwigTheWonderKid · 18/03/2016 22:51

What about Magnus? Or Sylvester?

Homerun23 · 18/03/2016 23:50

Have you considered Dexter? It seems a similar style to the other names on your list and is pretty cool!

LonestarStateOfMind · 19/03/2016 00:16

Isaac
Ben
Joel

Amy106 · 19/03/2016 01:34

I'm glad that you got an extension. It will take some of the pressure off. I like your names and would like to suggest
Evan
Xavier
David
James
Congratulations on your new baby! Flowers

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 19/03/2016 01:51

If it's to the point where you need an extension to name and register you baby. Perhaps the names you're thinking of aren't right for your boy. There are other boys names out there besides.... Rex. Huxley and Zachary.
Would you be up for sharing a pic of him so we could possibly see what name would suit him. X

OP, personally I love your style/taste and also would pick Rex as the name that goes beautifully with your other DC's (love that there would be a "y" from Freya, 'Z' from Zander and 'x' from Rex!) and is a great, cool, individual but not crazily out there name.
Think as others have said maybe choose your favourite and start to call ds it and see how it feels before you make your decision.

BigGreenOlives · 19/03/2016 07:37

I see others have already said Dexter, I think that goes well too. Leo?

Wishfulmakeupping · 19/03/2016 07:37

Yy to the suggestion of Dexter also what about Wilson? Met a baby Wilson recently it's different and I quite like it :)
Out if your list Huxley
