If you were going to meet a person and you only knew their first name, would you assume they were male or female? (Person running a class, not dodgy Internet dating!)

Bailey - American girl, or a labrador

Riley - boy if in the UK, girl if in the US
Bailey - 50/50 chance, wouldn't have a clue
Jody - girl

I actually had this scenario the other day, waiting to meet 2 children called Rowan and Morgan. Both were boys but I didn't know which I was expecting.

Rowan - boy
Riley - boy (and I say this despite the fact my twin sister is Riley)
Bailey - boy
Jody - girl
Kelly - girl
Piper - girl
Morgan - boy

Rowan - male
Riley - male
Bailey - female
Jody - female
Kelly - female
Piper - female
Morgan - male (although the only one i know personally is a female)

For most of them, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the other gender.

I had an email from a teacher about ds. I knew the teacher was a man. He signed the email with one of the names listed above, I hadn't seen the name for a man before.

It seems it can be a man name too.
