Could Morgan work as a girl's name? We are pretty much decided on it if we have a boy but OH reckons it would work for a girl as well.

Opinions?

I only know a female Morgan (she sometimes goes by Mo) so it does work. she's 19 years old and lives in USA, where i think it is more popular than here in the UK.

Other than Morgan Freeman, i don't know any male Morgans - however i would still mainly associate it as a male name.

I have met one little girl called Morgan - Morgan Le Fey (SP?) In Arthurian legend was a woman so think it is fine although I prefer Morgana.

GoldPlatedBacon · 08/03/2016 13:20

I also know a female Morgan. She's 15. I say it's a unisex name

Tabsicle · 08/03/2016 13:37

Good news for my best beloved then! Sounds like a unisex name.

Yeah, it definitely could work... Smile I think it's quite nice!

SecretWitch · 08/03/2016 14:07

Morgan is a name we considered for our dd. It means lives by the sea. She was conceived and born into our Oceanside home in Florida. We chose a different name but I am holding Morgan in reserve!

Sadik · 08/03/2016 14:09

Yes, definitely unisex, I know both. It's a great name, too, for a girl or a boy :)

MitzyLeFrouf · 08/03/2016 14:25

I know a girl called Morgan. I think she's about 5.

ImNotAFlower · 08/03/2016 14:27

I have a boy Morgan but it is definitely unisex. We were going to use it either way. It's a fab name. Gets lots of comments (positive lol )

GRW · 08/03/2016 15:35

I really don't like it. It rhymes with Organ, and has negative connotations for me.

Parisbanana · 08/03/2016 15:39

I know Morgans of both sexes. I like it for both too Smile

Twistedheartache · 08/03/2016 15:47

I really like it. Went to school with a female Morgan & know a couple of male Morgan's through work now.
Strangely think of it as a girls name not a boys name actually

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 08/03/2016 15:49

Love Morgan, only know 2, both female.

Sophronia · 08/03/2016 15:59

I think it's fine for both.

Jw35 · 08/03/2016 16:07

I know of a female organ age 11, she's from the USA

BettyBi0 · 08/03/2016 16:28

I think it's becoming more of a female unisex name - kind of like Quinn.

Mclaren37 · 09/03/2016 03:25

I love Morgan for a girl! I know an English four yr old whose twin is Joshua.

SweetTeaVodka · 11/03/2016 11:57

I think of Morgan as a girls name, I know an adult woman called Morgan and of course there is Morgan Le Fay. I hadn't encountered it as boys name (except for Morgan Freeman) until a few years ago and to me it feels very much a female name.

GreatFuckability · 11/03/2016 14:31

I know a few of either sex. Its my sisters middle name too.

3luckystars · 11/03/2016 15:04

There is a Morgana in the Merlin TV series, I think that is nice too.

ddeemummy · 12/03/2016 08:26

I like it for both. And know of people of both sexes called it

manicinsomniac · 12/03/2016 12:46

I like it for both (really like it for a boy but definitely think it's unisex.) I know one boy and one girl Morgan.
