38 weeks with a little girl. Wondering what you all make of the shortlist.

Matilda
Scarlett
Wallis
Frances

Any thoughts?

Not Wallis.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 04/03/2016 23:09

Wallace, like Wallace Simpson (I think?)

Not a fan of Matilda. Not sure why.

Scarlet, I like. Sweet and not babyish.

Frances is ok. Was friends with one at school and she hated it. She only answered to Fred.

hownottofuckup · 04/03/2016 23:12

The only one I really don't like is Matilda, not sure why.
But I'm sure if I met a little one with the name I'd change my mind.
They're all of the same ilk, just go with whichever strikes you as suiting her best when she arrives.
Actually, not keen on Wallis. Would pick Matilda over that. Wally isn't a pleasant NN for anyone.

applecatchers36 · 04/03/2016 23:14

Like Frances and Matilda best from your list

hownottofuckup · 04/03/2016 23:14

And isn't it a second grade clothes shop that tries to be posh and 'hip' but comes off as frumpy and wrong? (I've worked there, the answer is yes!)

manicinsomniac · 04/03/2016 23:14

I love Matilda.

Not keen on any of the others.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 04/03/2016 23:17

I like Wallis, have never met one!

Sophronia · 04/03/2016 23:26

Frances is lovely. I like Matilda too but it's very popular. Not keen on Scarlett or Wallis.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 04/03/2016 23:44

I love Wallis, but it's nicer spelt Wallace. IMO.
Matilda. Dont like it, sorry
Scarlett. As above.
Frances. Is beautiful, very classy and elegant.

emilybrontescorset · 05/03/2016 08:33

I have always liked Wallis, Scarlet is nice too.

LaceyLee · 05/03/2016 09:08

Please not Wallis! I really like Matilda, such a classic name. Second choice is France's but prefer Francesca

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 05/03/2016 09:52

Scarlet would be a terrible name for someone who develops rosacea in later life. I'd stay away for that reason only.

I have rosacea. I'd hate to be called Scarlet.

NadiaWadia · 05/03/2016 13:52

Well, out of those, Frances. And definitely not Wallis!

Quercus3 · 05/03/2016 20:04

Frances is delightful

RockUnit · 05/03/2016 20:57

Frances

Mynd · 05/03/2016 21:49

Thanks all! Helped us both quite a lot :-)

I love Scarlet! Pretty and underused, and suitable for a child or an adult Smile

I like Matilda too, I love the NNs and think it is very sweet, but it is a bit too popular for me at the moment. I fell as if every other girl at the moment is being named Matilda, and although it's a lovely name, you child may be one of several in her class (which, from personal experience, sucks)

Not Wallis or Frances - Too old fashioned and a bit ugly in my opinion Hmm Wallis just reminds me of Wallace and Gromit and i alwasy think of Frances as a male name (i know it's spelt differently, but it's just what comes to mind) However i do quite like Francesca, shortened to Frankie.

MitzyLeFrouf · 08/03/2016 14:28

Wallis is very East Coast, thin as a rake, preppy and imposing society grande dame. Can't imagine why I think that! Grin

Frances is my favourite.

GoingToParis · 08/03/2016 14:30

Frances

RortyCrankle · 08/03/2016 14:49

Don't like Wallis and do you want your child called Wally?

Shesinfashion · 08/03/2016 15:03

Frances. Hate the others, especially Scarlet. Makes me think of scarlet fever.

Vixxfacee · 08/03/2016 22:52

Wallis is a boys name.

AKissACuddleAndACheekyFinger · 08/03/2016 22:56

Wallis would be called Wally so not keen but the others are great.

JenniferAnistonsHair · 08/03/2016 23:31

Scarlett is my favourite from your list...
