A brother for Noah and Seth

kaymondo · 04/03/2016 14:31

Expecting DS3 in June, brothers are Noah and Seth. Ideally want something known but not too popular (yes, I know we didn't quite achieve that with Noah - I thought it was unusual before I had him!)

Names are biblical purely by coincidence so not adverse to another biblical name but it certainly isn't a criteria.

Our surname starts and ends with G so names with a softer ending tend to sound better.

Currently on the list are:
Elijah (Eli)
Adam
Wilfred (Wilf)
Rufus

Anyone got any thoughts either on our list or others we might like?

Elijah or Eli (name in its own right).

thebiscuitindustry · 04/03/2016 15:09

I like all of those, but think Adam or Eli(jah) would go best with Noah and Seth.

Ezra

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/03/2016 15:28

I'd probably avoid anything obviously biblical.

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/03/2016 15:30

I love Rufus. I'm sure there was a St Rufus but it doesn't have that Old Testament theme of Seth and Noah. Which is a good thing imo.

Asher

I like Elijah with Noah and Seth.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 04/03/2016 17:10

I was going to suggest Amos :)
David (you don't get many of those around these days), Asher and Isaac work well too.
I would keep the name shortish because your others are.

kaymondo · 04/03/2016 17:36

I like Silas! Will run that one by DH Smile.

I like Nathaniel too but it seems a bit unfair to give DS3 a really long name to learn to spell when his brothers only have short names.

Love Jonah but think it's a bit too similar to Noah.

I know too many Oscars for that to be in the mix (DS1 has 4 in his class alone!)

Amos and Joshua both out as have close friends with those names.

Just though, Seth & Silas might be a bit of a mouthful, plus all the issues that come with having siblings with same initials. Hmmm something to think about.

Glad Eli seems to get positive feedback - it's my current front runner. However my concern is that it is about to get stupidly popular like Noah did. I like Ezra too but have a similar feeling about that - it's one of those names that seems to be suggested on here all the time.

Adam is my favourite of your choices, and I think it's the least likely to suddenly become crazily popular,as it's "had its day". Only know a handful of little Adams, while I know quite a few Elias/Elijah/Elis and an Ezra!

Good Luck!

ScarlettDarling · 04/03/2016 19:40

Gabriel (Gabe). Love it.

Also Ben

CaptainWarbeck · 05/03/2016 02:42

Elias? Then you still get Eli as a nn but a bit different to Elizabeth.

CaptainWarbeck · 05/03/2016 02:43

Oops... Elijah I meant! Elizabeth would be a bit different Grin

Gungdjur · 05/03/2016 03:28

Saul?
Love Gabriel too

KatieT12 · 05/03/2016 19:22
