Trying to find a name in memory of a member of family named Josette for DD1. What are your thoughts of Josie?

It's beautiful. I like it. Smile

WaccaWacca · 04/03/2016 10:05

Josie is nice. But I really like Josette. Why not go with that?

MairzyDoats · 04/03/2016 10:07

Saw your thread title and thought 'Josie is nice but Josette is much prettier' so there you go.

Crusoe · 04/03/2016 10:07

Love love love Josie

autumnmoon · 04/03/2016 10:08

we almost used it for DD..... it's lovely. I was slightly put off by people pronouncing it differently (Jo-sea or Jo-zee) as it can be a bit of a pain having to correct people although perhaps not a big problem. why not use Josette with Josie at a nn - Josette is gorgeous! also Josephine is another lovely name

Scoose · 04/03/2016 10:10

I'm a Josie although my name is Josephine so am biased I hated my babe growing up but quite like it now Smile

MairzyDoats · 04/03/2016 10:15

Josephine is also lovely!

squoosh · 04/03/2016 10:25

I prefer Josette to Josie to be honest.

squoosh · 04/03/2016 10:26

But I really don't like Josephine.

SweetheartLittleLove · 04/03/2016 10:26

Josephine and Josie are really lovely names

Scoose · 04/03/2016 10:29

Babe should obviously be name I don't hate babes Confused

ButterIsAngelSpunk · 04/03/2016 10:42

I love it - DS would have been Josie if he had come out a girl!

MyBreadIsEggy · 04/03/2016 10:51

I like Josie but when it's pronounced Jo-see not Jo-zee.
Josette is also beautiful!! You could always put Josette on the birth certificate but call her Josie as a nn?
If our DC2 turns out to be a boy In debating calling him Edward, even though I know he would become Teddy pretty quickly!

thebiscuitindustry · 04/03/2016 11:42

I quite like Josie as a nickname for Josephine, and Josette is very pretty too.

I don't like the pronounciation Jo-zee though.

TheOptimisticPessimist · 04/03/2016 12:08

and the pussycats Grin

Josette is beautiful - I'd use that and then use Josie as a day to day nn. I like Josie but not as much. Give her the option!

pilates · 04/03/2016 13:50

I like Josie but not keen on Josette.

DontKillMyVibe · 04/03/2016 15:24

Josianne? I like Josette though!

villainousbroodmare · 04/03/2016 15:38

Not a fan... I do know a male Jozi which I think is cool though.

CreamofTartar · 04/03/2016 15:48

Josette is rather chic.

Josie for me, though, is a sixty-something rural gossip in a floral pinny who says 'The likes of him should be praying for a happy death at his age ' whenever she hears of a man over fifty doing anything other than going to mass.

There's a Josette in the Chalet School books, isn't there? One of the gruesome Joey Maynard's nieces, I think, but I can't remember whether she's the beautiful spoilt brat who scalds and nearly kills her younger sister because of her vanity, or the younger sister who gets scalded and remains 'delicate' (though that's always a good thing in the CS books)...

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/03/2016 16:25

Sybil and Josette! I think they were Madge's daughters.

Pretty cool names.

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/03/2016 16:26

Was Margot not the sociopathic brat?

AuntJane · 04/03/2016 16:27

As an alternative, Jocelyn?

ifigoup · 04/03/2016 16:31

My niece is called Josiane, Josie for short. I like Josie, but I think of it more as a nickname than as a full name in its own right.
