Blyton!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 03/03/2016 20:42

No.

CallaLilli · 03/03/2016 20:42

Elizabeth Wakefield's best friend in the Sweet Valley High books...

Muskey · 03/03/2016 20:43

Sorry I don't like it. It's a tad old fashioned. But as i always say if you like it go ahead

daffodilsandbooks · 03/03/2016 20:43

Oh please don't, it's awful Sad

MashesToPashes · 03/03/2016 20:43

Love it. Do you know it's a character name on the Walking Dead? You might get the odd person assuming you're a fan.

It's a good strong name with a lovely meaning "life" or "soul".

daffodilsandbooks · 03/03/2016 20:43

Even she changed it when she went to university Calla I don't blame her

madmother1 · 03/03/2016 20:43

I love it!

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach · 03/03/2016 20:44

Blyton here too. Ingrid as an alternative? Not keen on either to be honest, they are both quite 'hard' sounding to me.

houseeveryweekend · 03/03/2016 20:44

OMG that is an awesome name I love it!!!! Please name your daughter that!!! I also love Edith and Beryl. I had a boy though so did not get to use any of them :-(

mydogeatsnutstoo · 03/03/2016 20:44

It is actually quite a nice sounding name though very much in the league of old lady chic not as yet popular (like Ethel and Maude). I probably would not be brave enough to use it, but it will probably be ultra cool in about ten years and yoiu will be a trend setter.

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach · 03/03/2016 20:45

Or Astrid? Much nicer, IMO but each to their own Smile

mydogeatsnutstoo · 03/03/2016 20:45

I like Ines, and it sounds similar.

Beautiful name. Deserves a resurgence as do many old names. As a midwife never come across it.

wineandcheeseplease · 03/03/2016 20:45

I love it!

PurpleDaisies · 03/03/2016 20:46

One of my guinea pigs is called Enid. I'm not sure I like it for a human.

AmysTiara · 03/03/2016 20:46

Eek I'm sorry but it'sone of the ugliest sounding names ever. I would be changing my name as soon as possible if i was called Enid

emilybrontescorset · 03/03/2016 20:49

I like it and like Edith too.
Definately due a revival.

cally0 · 03/03/2016 20:49

Ha thank you for your replies and your honesty!! Mixed reaction so far, and I think more dislikes than likes!

OP posts:
Jesabel · 03/03/2016 20:50

So ugly. But then I do like Maude.

thebiscuitindustry · 03/03/2016 20:51

Not keen on girls names ending in "id", they sound a bit harsh (I don't like Astrid or Ingrid either).

I like some of the other names from the same era though, such as Elsie and Edie.

DontKillMyVibe · 03/03/2016 21:05

Whilst it automatically makes me think of Blyton there is something about it that I really like. It's a well known name that isn't overused but is nice. Also like Ines, Edith and Edie as others have suggested.

Mynd · 03/03/2016 23:08

Love Enid!

villainousbroodmare · 03/03/2016 23:56

When I was small, I misread the signature-style author's name on Blyton's books as Gnid! Grin
Not as bad as Gnid but pretty bad imo.
I do love Ines though.
