I think we have decided on elliot/Elliott - every day I think the other one is better and then change, it's just impossible

Elliott.

Like Elliott Smith.

squoosh · 27/02/2016 22:53

And Elliott from ET.

DramaAlpaca · 27/02/2016 22:54

Elliott looks better to me.

waxweasel · 27/02/2016 22:55

Elliott

VimFuego101 · 27/02/2016 22:57

Elliott.

loobylou10 · 27/02/2016 23:05

Mine is an Elliot. With 2 t's it looks like a surname.

MissTessmacher · 27/02/2016 23:06

Ell-i-ott.

Did you learn nothing from E.T.??!

Sophronia · 27/02/2016 23:26

Elliot.

HelenF35 · 27/02/2016 23:31

We chose Elliott.

MissTurnstiles · 27/02/2016 23:43

Elliott.

Quite cool to be able to clarify the spelling with 'double L; double T.'

KatieT12 · 28/02/2016 01:02

Thanks all

Exactly as looby says - ours is an Elliot, two t's is a surname. Lots of people spell it that way though..

Afreshstartplease · 28/02/2016 07:14

Elliot

KatieT12 · 28/02/2016 10:01

Ive seen lots of people with the one t as a surname? Look at Billy Elliot

DivorcedBeheaded · 28/02/2016 10:19

I would just keep your surname however it is spelled, either is fine. Have you chosen a first name?

babyand · 28/02/2016 10:42

I like eli Blush

PuppyMonkey · 28/02/2016 11:25

Or he could be named after T S Eliot just to confuse matters further.Grin

KatieT12 · 28/02/2016 12:46

It will be his first name???

OP posts:
jimpam · 28/02/2016 12:48

Elliott is lovely, also makes it easier if you need to spell it for someone as you can just say it has two Ls & two Ts!

Raahh · 28/02/2016 12:57

Mine is Elliot, 1 t. I always think 2 ts looks more like a surname, as others have said. Definitely NOT Eliot, which even as a surname I think looks odd.Grin

Whoami24601 · 28/02/2016 13:11

Mine is Elliott, and we thought the same as PP- that it would be easier to clarify spelling. However, in the last 10mo since he was born I have noticed most people default to Elliot, and we are always having to correct them!

MissTurnstiles · 28/02/2016 13:12

The character in Noël Coward's Private Lives is Elyot...

KatieT12 · 28/02/2016 15:07

Other DS is Louis and people either spell it Louie or call him Lewis, so I suppose I've already had to correct people! I think I'll go for Elliott... It looks 'cleaner'? I suppose the original is Elliot though, urgh!!

OP posts:
HelenF35 · 28/02/2016 15:14

It is one of these names that will always be spelt incorrectly regardless even some of my family spell it wrong on occasion! Confused

DS has a surname that is always spelt incorrectly too, but it has two double letters in it too so Elliott seemed like the sensible choice for us.
