What are your thoughts on Florence or Eleanor? Or any other options along these lines?
Middle name may be Elizabeth but not confirmed!

Eleanor is beautiful. Florence is awful.

How would you want Evelyn pronounced? If Ev-e-lyn you would be unlikely to get Evie as a nn due to the pronunciation, if Eve-lyn then it would be more likely.

I am biased towards Evelyn, but we have always said with all our children that we are not shortening their names as we are allowing them to choose when they are older. People have respected that so far, bar one or two who I just keep correcting. Might be nit-picky but I don't care!

We'll be using Eleanor as a middle name if the sproglet turns out to be a girl. I like it shortened to Nell.

Eleanor is nice and I like the NN Ellie. However, I don't like alliteration, so I'm not keen on Eleanor Elizabeth; I also don't like Florence.

Evelyn is miles better!

No, she won't automatically get Ellie. Well, my cousin never did/does...

I like my name, nickname and all. I'm 32 and Ellie was really unusual when I was growing up so I still like it. I have always hated Nell, Nora and the other nn so although you might but want to avoid Ellie, you dd won't thank you for the N nns as they have too much bullying potential!! You could go for Elle as a nn or just use the full name. I do live florence too- it was on my list but I'm not keen on Flo, for obvious reasons! I vote Eleanor. It's stood the test of time for me! X

I LOVE Florence! Such a cute name, it was on our list until we found out we were expecting a son. Florence (Flossie!) and Beatrice were our girls names. Soooo hard choosing for a boy!

I prefer Eleanor as well. It is very classic. I don't like the nicknames but I have never known an Eleanor who has had her name shortened (apart from siblings doing so).

Florence has grown on me because there are so many around but while I have got used to hearing it, I don't like the name at all. I also really dislike all its nicknames - Floss, Flo, Florrie, Lori.

ETA my view of classic is a name that could be used by the royal family. In a million years I couldn't imagine them using faddy Florence but I am sure somebody will come along and point out xyz has a daughter whose third name is Florence!

I like Eloise or Eloisa. They are pretty similar to Eleanor, but not quite as common at the moment.
