How would you spell Jayden for a girl?

Just that really!

OP posts:

Xalyshiax · 29/01/2016 22:54

I'm not sure it really matter, I think they're the same spas I have a little boy called Jayden however, whilst at playgroup, I met a little girl with the name spelt the same.

Casmama · 29/01/2016 22:54

What a horrible thread!

Do you all feel good about piling in and slagging off the op?
Once one or two people have made the point re it being a boys name and not liking it then it verges on bullying to keep saying it in more and more patronising terms.

Notso · 29/01/2016 22:57

Just spell it Jayden.

SirChenjin · 29/01/2016 22:57

Jaydenetta?

Jaydena?

J'aydenne

Actually, I'd leave out the Jayden altogether and go for any one of the million other names that are much nicer aren't it.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 29/01/2016 22:58

I'd rather be the only Jaydenne/Jaiden/Jayden in my peer group than the fifteenth Amelia.

It has that going for it at least OP.

She'll never be Jayden (insert surname or initial) Smile

SirChenjin · 29/01/2016 22:59

I'd rather be neither.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 29/01/2016 23:01

I hope you achieved that then at least Sir Smile

SirChenjin · 29/01/2016 23:04

Yes - my parents found that it's not too hard to go for something in the vast middle ground between Jaydenne and the 15th Amelia Smile

Jesabel · 29/01/2016 23:06

I know a Jaydee and a Jaydene.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 29/01/2016 23:11

Good for you Sir.
I suppose it helped that you were presumably born and named at least twenty years ago.

OP I know a Jodene. South African lady, very lovely and cultured (classy and polite)
May I suggest Jaydene? Smile

SirChenjin · 29/01/2016 23:16

Indeed - and I'll pass on your good thoughts to my parents Miss

Tartyflette · 29/01/2016 23:21

Ok, trying to not be rude or bullying - I don't think any of the 'feminine' spellings really work. Jaydene alters the pronounciation. Jaydenne puts the stress on the last syllable.

Alisvolatpropiis · 30/01/2016 02:43

I don't think there is a female spelling of Jayden (which is a variation on the biblical name Jadon).

Meeep · 30/01/2016 02:52

Jade Anne is the best suggestion.

WannaBeAMummy16 · 30/01/2016 08:05

Jaeden probably. Dislike it though on either sex.

Sofiria · 30/01/2016 10:40

Jayden is an awful name.

Jade is nice, though. Or Jane, Janine, Jadzia?

moopymoodle · 30/01/2016 10:48

I have a boy called Jayden, please don't call a girl it. She would be badly teased!

ZiggyFartdust · 30/01/2016 10:56

She'll never be Jayden (insert surname or initial)

No, she'll be "girl Jayden" as in "Not Jayden M or Jayden L, but the female one, yeah, I know, weird name for a girl, isn't it?...."

So much better.

Wardrobespierre · 30/01/2016 11:09

I think the tone of the thread is set by incredulity rather than being obnoxious. Choosing a boys name and spelling it differently just so you can use it for a girl is a strange premise isn't it?

Colyn
Trevvhu
Math-yoo

It's just very strange.

I love traditionally masculine names for girls. But more Harry as a nn for Harriet or Stevie type names where it's not a case of just blatantly using a boys name.

My niece has a boys name. However, they spell it the same. Not my cup of tea but at least she will only have to explain the one idiosyncracy for the rest of her life.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 30/01/2016 12:04

Incredulity.

So, thats the modern euphemism for acting like an ill mannered snob is it?

Thanks for the heads up.

I hardly suppose that an OP asking for advice on an alternative spelling of Sidney for their daughter would have garnered such flagrant sanctimony.

Why is it that Jayden is fair game? I wonder Hmm

TheDisillusionedAnarchist · 30/01/2016 12:07

Jayden is fine, maybe Jaden. Girls with boys or unisex names statistically have better life outcomes.

Wardrobespierre · 30/01/2016 12:17

No. In my case I acted with incredulity just as I said. I am neither a snob nor ill mannered and I made no comment on the name Jayden.

Some people were obnoxious of course, thus has the Internet ever been. The vast majority were honest or helpful. It is remarkable that somebody would use a boys name for a girl. It simply is.

Alisvolatpropiis · 30/01/2016 12:24

Do they Disillunsioned? Can you link to those?

ZiggyFartdust · 30/01/2016 12:24

Really Anarchist? Where did you get that nugget from?
I would love to see the reliable longitudinal study that has followed the entire lives of a large number of girls with boys names.
Hmm

Outaboutnowt · 30/01/2016 12:24

I don't think Jayden is an awful name but IMO it is a boys name, and your daughter wouldn't have a great time being at school with a typically boys name and possibly being in the same class as male Jaydens.

If I were you I would go for Jade or Jada, which are both lovely and as her nn would be Jade anyway, I think would work out better for her in the long run.
