Thinking of changing 7 weeks olds name!

My DD is 7 weeks old, and my husband has never been happy with her name. I am now also starting to have doubts, and am wondering if we should change it! Has anyone else changed the name quite late on?

I prefer Willow to Scarlett.

Wardrobespierre · 19/01/2016 17:30

Willow is so much nicer than Scarlett. No comparison.

GracieGraives · 19/01/2016 19:24

I prefer scarlett

I like Willow. I know it's quite popular, but it's so elegant.

I hate it when people are rude about a baby's name. I mean, if I said, "hi, I'm Hildegard", you wouldn't say "ooooh, Hildegard! I really hate that name!" would you?

Rude!

Willow is a gorgeous name, why not add Scarlett as her middle name?

Squashybanana · 19/01/2016 20:35

I personally think Willow is problematic. Someone at some point will point out 'pussy willow' and she will get teased. Also it is a lovely name for a slender beauty but if she turns out to be overweight it is almost mean, like her name is taunting her. A bit like a tiny guy being called Lanky.

Its a shame because it is gorgeous for a baby.

I think if you do decide to change her name it seems straightforward in terms of process.

Oh that's a lovely name Smile

Much much much prefer Willow. Scarlett always makes me think of scar/s (mho) x

fondationmaeght · 19/01/2016 20:48

Willow is so lovely

FriendofBill · 19/01/2016 23:34

No one would associate willow with being willowy unless she was.
It would just be her name. And she will grow into it.

Unless you think she is not a willow OP?

I did a name change btw, and no regrets!

Willow is so much nicer!

I couldn't use a name that my dh didn't also like so for that reason I'd change it to something you're both ok with.
I desperately wanted to call dd Georgina a name I'd always liked but he really didn't like it- he did like Georgia so we reached a happy middle and her name really suits her- I completely love it.
