Ania?

What do we think of Ania ( pronounced Anya) with nn Ani.
I love annie but wonder if giving Ania as a full names is better if she wants a more grown up name later?

Why not Anya?

I wouldn't know how to pronounce Ania to be honest and would probably say something like "Annie-ah"

If you love Annie go with that, she could have Anne or Anna for a grown up name, or spell Anya the recognised way, Ania is a bit odd in my opinion.

I don't really like Ann or Anna. Could you do Ani if you have Anya?
Her sister is Thea so am used to being asked how to pronounce a name.

Ania just looks like a spelling mistake. Anya with nn Ani would be lovely. I also think people won't think Ania is pronounced Anya. Many people will know how to pronounce Thea but I think very few will pronounce Ania how you want. To me is reads as An-ay-a.

Yeah you'd think so with Thea but I get.... Freya, Tia, Taya. Thanks I really like Ani/Annie a lot just trying to work it all out.

Annie is a lovely name, as is Anna.

Go with Anja or Anya, no reason you can't nn her Annie.

I know Ania as a polish name where it is a shortening/softening of the name Anna so to me it is already a shortened name.
Also think that if you expect to predominantly be in UK then go with the more conventional Anya spelling as Ania will be mispronounced all the time.
If you like Ani then why not just call her that?
If you want a longer formal name then what about something like Annalise?

Dd has a friend called Ania pronounced Anya, she says the teachers constantly call her Ann-eye-ah and it drives her potty. If you like Ani why not call her Annie?

I know an Ania pronounced "Anne-eye-ah". Anya is lovely and can be shortened to Annie but if you want Annie call her that as you can't force a shortening (I thought you could when I had my first, I was wrong, she's has never been called the short version I chose for her name).

I'd assume Ania was An-eye-ah. Annie would be fine as nickname for Anya.

I would also pronounce Ania as Ann-eye-a. Anya/Anja is a nice name, I'd stick with one of those spellings. You could still use Annie for short.

I think Ania is a perfectly normal spelling of the name! It's not some quirky 'unique' spelling at all. Maybe I just know too many Poles

I like it, better than Annie/Ani actually, and I definitely prefer this spelling to Anya/Anja. The only reason I wouldn't use it is because I once had a 'significant' Ania, and it would feel too much like i'd named my DD after her - otherwise it would definitely be a serious contender for me.

Ania is lovely. It was on my list, but didn't get used in the end.

What about Anita, or Anne?

I think it is fine to use or you could use the Arabic name Aniyah, pronounced An-i-ah. Different name to Anya though.

Thanks. I think we'll gone for Anya, i think it sounds nice with Thea. Then I'll def call her Ani but she has the choice as she grows up. Still have a long time to change my mind though!
