hi. Congratulations on your baby !

That's a great name ( biased lol )

best nick names : Frankie , Chesca

Worst ever : Fran , pronounced Frarn

and Francesca in it's entirety is a nice grown up name for when you feel you are too old for nicknames :-)

themumfairy · 15/01/2016 15:55

Thankyou for the fast reply Smile
That's exactly why I love it, it's a grown up name aswell as pretty for a little girl. I can imagine a Doctor Francesca (high hopes Wink)
I know it'll be shortened at school and I love Cheska. It's a definite now Smile

I think it's a great same, and Chesca is quite sweet. The only Francesca I know though is always shortened to Fran and i must admit I really don't like that!

GoldPlatedBacon · 15/01/2016 16:05

I don't have a Francesca but it is one of my favourite girls name. I would use Chessie or Chescha as a nn.

GoldPlatedBacon · 15/01/2016 16:06

I meant Cheska

MimiSunshine · 15/01/2016 16:06

I know of a Francesca who is Chessy rather than Cheska

RayofFuckingSunshine · 15/01/2016 16:07

It's my name. I love it now (not so much when I was younger). As far as nicknames, I usually get Frankie, rarely get Chesca and have only once been called Fran (which was immediately stopped).

I like it.

It's on my very long list of names. ----

I don't mind Fran so could tolerate it.

EbonyDanny · 16/01/2016 08:40

I love it....it's DD's nameSmile

We used to call her Chesc or Chesca but when she started infant school she was called Fran by everyone and she loved it. As she got older she began to hate it and wanted to be called Frankie but Fran had stuck!

She changed schools in year 5 and introduced herself as Frankie which she is now known as (she is in year 9)

We call her Fanny at home for some reasonConfused!! It just kind of stuck and suits her because she's always fannying around!

She has been called Chessie on occaisions but the worst one ever was Frange (to rhyme with flange) Confused

Francesca is a beautiful name, ageless and graceful imo.

SoWhite · 16/01/2016 13:08

Fran is the best - it is really simple, understated and chic.

Cheska and Chess are too try-hard-sloaney.

Frankie is too cute and potentially masculine for my taste.

blueandgreendots · 16/01/2016 18:54

DD is Francesca and currently is mostly called Frankie. My Grandad was Frank so it feels nice to honour him but if she wants to change her nickname when she's older that's fine by me.

We get a lot of complements on her name. I love that it is classic and strong. Having a lot more trouble picking a name for her brother or sister due in April!

Cornwall73 · 16/01/2016 18:58

great name. This was our choice (alongside Claudia) if our twins had been two girls but ended up being girl and boy.

HannahLily2014 · 16/01/2016 18:59

Ds1 would have been a Francesca, I love Frankie and Cheska as nicknames, dd1 has a friend called Francesca at school who they all call Franny which is quite cute

Copperkettle · 16/01/2016 19:00

I know a 5 year old who goes by fransie. I'm not keen on it. Love Francesca though.

NerrSnerr · 16/01/2016 19:02

I love it. I used to know a Franka nn as a child. It really suited her.

KaraokeQueenOfTheNorth · 16/01/2016 19:21

I love it and I love Frankie as a nn, so cute.

I know a Cheska, who also goes by Chez

strandedabroad · 16/01/2016 20:39

That's my name and I love it. Get called Frankie by nearly everyone in this country.

Back home (non-English speaking) I used to be a Franci, with a chi sound. Only my Dad calls me Fran, always has, and that's very special for this reason.

If it wasn't my name I'd probably put it on my list Grin

Paddypaws3 · 16/01/2016 20:42

I have a Francesca :).

I thought a nickname would evolve (we like Frankie as a nn) but one hasn't emerged yet. She's 3 so plenty of time I guess!

Dd1 did call her Franny when she was a baby, which was sweet.
