Met a little Ferdy last week, and was struck by what a cool name it was, with a rather lovely shortening.

Would consider for any future DS! Anyone else?

No.

Prefer Fernando

Snowball789 · 12/01/2016 21:20

Yes, on my list.

Sophronia · 13/01/2016 00:01

I like it.

MitzyLeFrouf · 13/01/2016 01:00

Yes I like it. And the Irish name Ferdia.

Ferdy reminds me of Ramon Tikaram in This Life.

Only1Scoop I'd be one of those really annoying people who just would not be able to help themselves from singing 'Can you hear the drums Fernandooooooo' if I met someone of that name.

It was my granddads name, although he shortened it to ferd (Fred to the grandkids for some reason) I like it!

So cute. If makes me think of a playful inquizative mischievous baby horse.

I like it actually. Wouldn't work with our surname though...

Ikeameatballs · 13/01/2016 06:58

It's a name where I much prefer the shortening to the full name.

wannabestressfree · 13/01/2016 06:59

I really like it :)

I suggested this to DH once we found out we were having a boy but he said no. Possibly because I kept saying it in the Babe voice (the duck? goose? in Babe is called Ferdinand nn Ferdy). He also said his friends would think we'd named him after Rio Ferdinand.

Ilovegummibears · 13/01/2016 14:28

It sounds German. Nice name and not overused.
