Not Alfred as he will become alfie which is everywhere plus Darcy and Penelope are becoming very fashionable. I really like Arthur and Dorothy Smile

willconcern · 11/01/2016 19:07

Sorry this isn't helpful but I don't like any of them.

Cinnamon2013 · 11/01/2016 19:09

I like Penelope... Less keen on the rest I'm afraid.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 11/01/2016 19:21

Alfred. No too harsh. Alfie's okay but very overused.
Arthur. Don't see the appeal with this name at all. It's not even old mannish but cutesy like Alfie for example
Jonathan. No. Like Jon though. Good strong name which suits you through every stage of your life.
Dorothy Yes. I quite like it. It's certainly different now and Dotty is an adorable nn.
Penelope. No but I do like Nell.
Darcy Is gorgeous.

SoWhite · 11/01/2016 19:41

Love Dorothy - it is the only girls name on your list that isn't trendy.

GoldPlatedBacon · 11/01/2016 20:09

Darcy and Jonathan are my favourites

Sunshine511 · 11/01/2016 20:12

Arthur - cute but equally good for a grown up, Jonathan - okay, Alfred - not a fan

Penelope - lovely, Darcy - too trendy and I don't think it will date well, Dorothy - okay, but totally not my cup of tea.

Alfred - quite like
Arthur - stuffy
Jonathan - OK and underused

Dorothy - a little fusty
Penelope - like
Darcy - like

MagicFinger · 11/01/2016 21:51

Like them all except Penelope, it reminds me of envelope for some reason!

Darcy is my favourite.

ashesandfire · 11/01/2016 22:08

From your boys names I like Arthur. Artie for a little boy and Art for an edgier nn when he's older :)
Alfred doesn't do anything for me. I quite like Jonathan but I know loads in their 30s/40s and struggle to see it on a boy really.
I really really dislike Darcy.
Penelope and Dorothy are both fine, they're not really my cup of tea. I prefer the nicknames Penny and Dorie to the full names!

hownottofuckup · 11/01/2016 22:10

Love Jonathan

SummerMonths · 11/01/2016 22:12

Darcie is the "Sharon and Tracey" name of the moment.

I love Penelope and Dorothy but I prefer Dorothea.

Arthur is great, classic but classless.

Not so keen on Alfie. I can't decide what I think of Jonathan.

ClemFandagoDoesTheTango · 11/01/2016 22:17

I like Arthur and Dorothy.

Darcy is lovely but very popular at the moment.

Not keen on the rest.

cecilelliott · 11/01/2016 22:20

Jonathan for boys- John/Johnnie are great shortenings, and there are very few around at the moment.

Penelope and Dorothy are both lovely but you would have to make your peace with their being shortened. Do you like Penny/Pen and Dot?

Good luck!

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 11/01/2016 22:23

I like them all with the exception of Darcy.

My favourites are Jonathan and Penelope.

fitzbilly · 11/01/2016 22:26

Jonathan is awful, I can't believe people like it! Jon is even worse, like John! Awful.

Sophronia · 11/01/2016 23:19

Love Jonathan! So handsome and underused. Alfred and Arthur are nice too but a bit more popular. Dorothy is nice from your girls list - I'd love to meet a little Dorothy.

cheapandcheerful · 11/01/2016 23:20

LOVE Dorothy!
