Its Roman, the female version of Vitus. I know it from Vita Sachville-West but her name was Victoria. It means life.

Verity - lovely
Indigo - too hippyish
Anna - meh, a bajillion of them in my school
Etta - pretty
Greta - meh
Rowan - lovely
Robin - a pet hate of mine, can find nothing nice to say about it
Vita - very pretty
Tess - nice
Helena - meh
Jude - boys name
Cora - nice
Darwin - NO
Juliet - fine

Jude - hate this
Evan - nice
Max - dull
Alex - meh
Elliot - lovely
Ewan - meh
Rufus - no
Rex - a dog/toilet paper
Robin - ugh, pet hate of this
Luke - fine
Lucas - lovely
Luca - grand

Seeing as theres Irish heritage Ciar (keer), Ciaran (keer-awn), Fiach (fee-ach) are quite simple names that might work.
For a girl Orla, Niamh, Fiadh (fee-ah), Aoife would be reasonably straightforward. Caoimhe (kwee-vah) and Muireann (mweer-an) are lovely too.

Girls-
Verity - love it!
Anna - nice classic name
Indigo - slightly hippy-ish, but I like it
Etta - as a nickname for an -etta name, yes. Not on its own.
Greta - not quite my style, but fine
Rowan - dislike
Robin - dislike
Tess - prefer Tessa
Darwin - not for a girl!
Cora - lovely
Jude - again, not for a girl
Helena - like it
Juliet - lovely

Boys
Jude - quite like it
Elliot - love it
Evan - fine
Ewan - dislike
Rufus - nice
Alex - prefer Alexander
Rex - I don't hate this but would only use as a middle name
Max - only as a nickname for Max- names
Robin - fine
Luke - not one of my favourites, but a classic, so nothing wrong with it.
Luca - like it, but I'd assume he had Italian heritage
Lucas - love it

My top choices are Verity and Elliot.

My favourites are Juliet or Tess/Tessa for a girl and Rufus or Rex for a boy.

Indigo No.

Jude. No not for a girl.
Helena. Gorgeous.
Juliette. No but I do quite like Julie Julia and Julianne

Jude. Yes
Elliot Gorgeous.
Ewan. Don't like
Evan. It's okay

Rex As above
Max. I did like it until I started hearing the name everywhere.
Robin. Don't like, but yet as you'll see. I like for a girl
Luke. Nice name, nothing spectacular though.
Luca. Gorgeous.
Lucas. Horrible.
Alex. Boring and unimaginative. Yet also a,very sensible name .

I actually really love Etta and Greta, but am in the minority. Also love Rita.

For boys, Elliot and Rex. Rex is awesome.

SweetSuz · 11/01/2016 11:46

Agree Rex is awesome.

Dull people with no imagination love referring to certain names as "dogs names" how short sighted and old fashioned when bet they haven't ever come across one dog in RL called Rex or Rufus...

I do know 3 dogs called Toby but wouldn't mean I'd right off a perfectly lovely boys name by insulting it as merely a dogs name anyway, its pure chance what people choose to call their dogs, or cats?!

Also love Tess, Helena, Etta and Greta.
