DS1 (3 years old) is Alfred nn Freddie. 20 week scan on Wednesday confirmed my suspicions that DC2 was going to be a boy! So...

Oscar
Joe/Jojo
Bertie
Maybe Caspar although DH won't go for it...

Anything similar come to mind?

And...go!

Albert as in Bertie goes well with Freddie

YokoUhOh · 08/01/2016 09:10

But Alfred and Albert as brothers? Too similar?

There seem to be lots of Oscars and Albies around lately. I'd go for Caspar - cute and unusual and I think it would age well

YokoUhOh · 08/01/2016 14:04

I might venture Caspar with DH! Albie I definitely wouldn't go for as a nn - why use Albie when you can use the lovely Bertie? Any other suggestions gratefully sounded-out :)

I love Caspar. Jasper could be another option?

Bertie was on our short list but we've struck it as can't agree on a 'full' name. I would avoid having Alfred and Albert together.

Unoriginalusername123 · 08/01/2016 19:26

What about Robert > Bertie?

SoWhite · 08/01/2016 19:54

I wouldn't go with something that also has an ie ending nickname.

Freddie and Albie or Bertie seems a bit much. I like Joe, because it is classic. And Oscar is nice, if you don't mind popular.

SoWhite · 08/01/2016 19:55

Also don't use Albert and Alfred. You could end up with two Als as adult sons, and that would be weird.

lljkk · 08/01/2016 19:57

Gosh I love Alfred.
Not liking most other suggestions, though, except Caspar is ok.

Edgar, Raymond, Nicholas, James, William?

YakTriangle · 08/01/2016 19:59

Freddie and Oscar sound lovely together.

YokoUhOh · 08/01/2016 20:42

Robert is one of Freddie's middle names, unfortunately.

I agree with Yak that Freddie and Oscar are a nice pairing. I am aware of Oscar's popularity (=teacher!) which makes me a bit hesitant.

Thanks for other suggestions, lljkk, I like that list a lot. Stanley has also come up a few times. I quite like the grandad names!

Agree that Oscar and Freddie sound good together.

Other suggestions:
Edward
Peter
Michael
Gilbert
Samuel
Vincent
Casimir

YokoUhOh · 10/01/2016 16:07

Sorry Cake not a fan of any of those names (apart from Edward but Freddie and Eddie?!). I'm drawn to relatively popular names, for some reason, despite being a teacher and knowing lots of Harrys, Joes etc.

Caspar is my favourite of your list and goes well with Freddie. Oscar is lovely, but, as you say, there are thousands around!

Sophronia · 11/01/2016 23:22

Benjamin
Barnaby
Charles/Charlie
Christopher/Kit
George
Henry
Jonathan
Joseph
James
John
Laurence/Laurie
Nathaniel/Nat
Nicholas
Patrick
Thomas
Theodore
William/Will/Billy
