Tedrick

I really need opinions on this, I love Teddy, but I know it probably isn't suitable for an adult... I have considered all the other names it's a diminutive of, but I think they all have a more obvious NN (Ed/Eddie / Theo, etc.) :)

I think it's a bit silly, sorry. I like Theodore, and if you always call him Ted he probably wouldn't end up being Theo.

MissBattleaxe · 05/01/2016 21:41

No I don't like it. Frederick or Theodore, but not a combo.

ThomasRichard · 05/01/2016 21:41

He would be forever correcting people from 'Frederick'.

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/01/2016 21:42

People will think you have made it up.

Meg3112 · 05/01/2016 21:43

It really isn't made up... I've come across someone with this name :)

Agree, it seems a bit daft. Either call him Teddy as his full first name, or go for Theodore but introduce him to everyone as Teddy.

DickDewy · 05/01/2016 21:46

I thought made up. Sounds silly.

Raxacoricofallapatorius · 05/01/2016 21:46

I've come across someone with this name

Did you buy him a drink first?

Meg3112 · 05/01/2016 21:47

Maybe I'll go with just Teddy then :)

OP posts:
Tuiles · 05/01/2016 21:47

I like Thaddeo/Thaddeus with the nickname Teddy

InitialsError · 05/01/2016 21:48

It sounds very silly.

Why not just call him Ted, nickname Teddy, if you think Teddy by itself isn't great for an adult?

Meg3112 · 05/01/2016 21:48

I would rather Teddy, on the BC, than Ted...

OP posts:
SevenOfNineTrue · 05/01/2016 21:49

Sorry, don't like it. Go go for Theodore and shorten to Ted or Teddy.

Meg3112 · 05/01/2016 21:49

DH and family really dislike Theodore

OP posts:
xmasseason · 05/01/2016 22:01

Reminds me of Baldrick, sorry!

EmpressOfTheVulvaCupcakes · 05/01/2016 22:03

Edward?

I think Teddy on the birth certificate would be embarrassing for anyone over five, tbh.

Meg3112 · 05/01/2016 22:05

I went to school with an Edward - he was always Teddy and still is... He says he wishes he was just Teddy, as doctors, etc. call him Edward

OP posts:
SlipperyJack · 05/01/2016 22:06

What about Edric? A name with lots of history (Google "Wild Edric"). I wanted it for DS but DH vetoed it, the git.

xmasseason · 05/01/2016 22:19

Winsted, or Halsted?

PurpleDaisies · 05/01/2016 22:21

Teddy is ok, Tedrick is not.

mathanxiety · 06/01/2016 04:24

Edwin?
Edgar?
Edmund?

Anything is better than Tedrick or Teddy on the BC.

Blu · 06/01/2016 04:56

I rather like Tedrick.

Glastokitty · 06/01/2016 05:06

Tedrick is ridic.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 06/01/2016 05:13

Tedrick Grin you're taking the piss, right?

nooka · 06/01/2016 05:15

Tedrick doesn't sound like a real name to me. I'd choose Edward/Theodore for the traditional Teddy names, go for one of the other Ed names, use a name that is associated with bears (Rupert?) and go for Teddy that way. Or just use it as a pet name - lots of nick names have very little to do with what's on the birth certificate!
