Tedrick

I really need opinions on this, I love Teddy, but I know it probably isn't suitable for an adult... I have considered all the other names it's a diminutive of, but I think they all have a more obvious NN (Ed/Eddie / Theo, etc.) :)

why would ted not be suitable for an adult? I think it's a heck of a lot better than Ted-Rick....my parents couldn't make up their mind.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 06/01/2016 10:24

I've come across someone with this name

I'm not sure that means the name wasn't made up! Just not by you...

No, please don't use it. Theodore is good. Edward is good. Tedrick is not.

HooseRice · 06/01/2016 10:26

Someone who is Teddy as a kid would grow up to be simply Ted, surely?

villainousbroodmare · 06/01/2016 12:06

Tedrick sounds made up and Teddy v babyish imo.

LemonBreeland · 06/01/2016 12:11

No, no, no! I saw someone on tv the other week, I think he had been on American Idol or something and he was call Todrick, it sounds ridiculous, as does Tedrick.

You could use Theodore, Thaddeus, Edward or Edwin, but please don't give your child a made up name.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 06/01/2016 13:17

It's like Fredrick gone wrong.

Sparklycat · 06/01/2016 13:19

It sounds made up

Boredofthinkingofnewnames · 06/01/2016 13:20

I'd think it was a spelling mistake.

GruntledOne · 06/01/2016 23:04

Don't call him Teddy, it would sound stupid in a grown man. If you're that set on it, call him Edward or Edmund or Theodore.

BatmanLovesBaubles · 06/01/2016 23:07

There's a character in The School For Good And Evil called Tedros... unusual but would still give you Teddy?

IamCarcass · 06/01/2016 23:13

I don't know it's do ridiculous I actually am starting to quite like it.. Grin

Lancelottie · 06/01/2016 23:16

Not heard it before. Is it a form of Theodoric?

EduCated · 06/01/2016 23:19

First thought was Blackadder!

ophiotaurus · 06/01/2016 23:20

No it sounds silly.

Figwin · 06/01/2016 23:21

My friends kid is Edward, known as Teddy. It is what you make it x

Junosmum · 07/01/2016 05:57

I think because of "how I met your mother" Ted is a common nn of Theodore these days and Theo is generally a name on it's own now. Tedrick sounds a bit silly but I'm sure people would get used to it if you used it.

AutumnLeavesEd · 07/01/2016 05:59

I think Tedrick is cute, go with it! I'm considering just Teddy... :)

PunkrockerGirl · 07/01/2016 06:24

Just because you've heard it before, doesn't mean that someone, somewhere hasn't made it up.
It's awful, sorry.

BikeRunSki · 07/01/2016 06:36

If you Google, Tedrick is a real name, a variation of Derek or Theodore, but largely used as a surname. However, it's not very well known and I think will be repeatedly mistaken for Frederick.

AutumnLeavesEd · 07/01/2016 06:40

I don't think it would be mistaken for Frederick... Think about it, it isn't much different to Danny & Sammy - they wouldn't be mistaken. I wouldn't use the name, but I don't think it would be mistaken for something else. If someone hasn't heard of it before, they may repeat it, to make sure it is that, but that's about it :)

fidel1ne · 07/01/2016 06:41

It reminds me of Ruprecht from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

BBQueen · 07/01/2016 06:56

I was christened with a nickname - I've changed my name by deed poll to the real name. It's just too embarrassing as an adult to constantly have to persuade banks/companies/employers that yes, your name really is just x.

Binkybix · 07/01/2016 07:19

It's growing on me :) Agree that Teddy on its own is bad for an adult.

BikeRunSki · 07/01/2016 07:28

My Samuel gets asked "Samuel or Daniel?" all the time!

patienceisvirtuous · 07/01/2016 07:32

Tedrik, lolz.

What about Balonz?
