I have a friend who is a university lecturer with this name.

I love it

Someone will tell you its chavvy though.

Sunshine511 · 04/01/2016 18:51

I feel quite indifferent about it! Don't know anyone by the name so doesn't conjur up any particular image for me. Nice enough sounding name so if you love it, go for it Smile x

It's up to you.

I'm not a fan, but it's your baby!

I prefer it spelled Tegan

Bambambini · 04/01/2016 23:49

Makes me think of Australia.

DramaAlpaca · 04/01/2016 23:50

The only ones I've known have been from Australia or NZ. I prefer it spelled Tegan too.

Imstickingwiththisone · 04/01/2016 23:50

I was hoping this thread would teach me how to pronounce it Grin it's a name I've only ever seen written down

DramaAlpaca · 04/01/2016 23:52

It's pronounced Tee-gan, with the emphasis on the first syllable.

I suppose the problem with the spelling Tegan is that it looks as if it rhymes with Megan.

Imstickingwiththisone · 04/01/2016 23:53

That's exactly the problem I've had in my head drama!

mrsschu · 05/01/2016 12:05

I don't like it. It sounds dated IMO. By that I mean it sounds to me as though it would have been "trendy"'at one point 15 years ago or something. But then I'm a big fan of timeless when it comes to names and I don't necessarily mean names like William or Charlotte, just names that don't necessarily point to a particular time period.

MrsCaecilius · 05/01/2016 12:27

Sounds like a character in Home & Away to me.

SevenOfNineTrue · 05/01/2016 12:33

I prefer the Tegan spelling, a name which is of Welsh origin.

I like it, would never see it as chavvy though.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 05/01/2016 12:37

I quite like it.

I think it looks better as Tegan.

Tegan jade? Tegan Jessica?

TJ is cute!

CakeRattleandRoll · 06/01/2016 14:42

I prefer Tegen, a Cornish name meaning 'pretty thing'. It's pronounced TEG-un, with a short 'e' sound, rather than Tee-gan.
