Not really dead set on these names but I really like them for now, it's for a boy, I'm currently leaning towards Paris but it changes by the day, opinions are also welcome.

Paris Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2015 20:55

Both dreadful.

RoseDaisy25 · 31/12/2015 20:55

100% Romeo :)

Mrsmorton · 31/12/2015 20:56

Nope.

SpendSpendSpend · 31/12/2015 20:56

I always thought Paris was a girls name.

I also think that with a name like Romeo he will get the piss taken out of him for life.

Romeo, Romeo, ooohhh Romeo!

He will get that said to him all his life

Motherwithflaws · 31/12/2015 20:57

Neither.
Is your dp/dh a professional football player?

Movingonmymind · 31/12/2015 20:58

No, bloody awful! And will date horribly.

DickDewy · 31/12/2015 20:58

Neither. Both awful.

Georgia3Rom · 31/12/2015 21:00

I'm still leaning towards Paris Smile

Paris

(as in the prince of Troy)

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 31/12/2015 21:02

Sorry - not good.

PunkrockerGirl · 31/12/2015 21:02

Sorry, I'm not keen. Unless you're a big Shakespeare fan in which case I could just about get it. If not, just no.
Paris is a capital city, not a child's name unless you're a huge Jilly Cooper fan

ElinorRochdale · 31/12/2015 21:05

Paris was a boy's name in Ancient Greek mythology. Paris was the bloke who allegedly ran off with Helen of Troy.

Georgia3Rom · 31/12/2015 21:05

Saying it's awful isn't really going to change my mind but @SpendSpendSpend however you have some good points, I know 2 Male Paris' both European, I think it's like the Name River, used more for girls but can be used for both genders.

Romeo jokes are an issue and one of the reasons, I haven't 100% latched on to the name.

Having said all that, I'm not strongly set on either name and I'm just contemplating

Romeo. Paris (the Trojan) was a jerk!

RoseDaisy25 · 31/12/2015 21:06

People saying he will get the piss taken out of him, you're wrong... My beautiful nephew is a Romeo, he has never had any problems :)

eastwest · 31/12/2015 21:09

I mean the connotations of Paris are: vain, cowardly, promiscuous, a guest who cheats and betrays his host and abducts his wife, leading to a massive war that kills thousands of people...!
What about Hector instead if you want something from the Iliad?

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 31/12/2015 21:09

Paris

Georgia3Rom · 31/12/2015 21:10

@ RoseDaisy25 that's brilliant Smile I'm glad I'm not the only one that's considered naming their child Romeo and that your Nephew hasn't been burdened by it.

@Eastwest, He was such a coward but then Shakespeare's Romeo isn't much better in my opinion Grin

ShesGotLionsInHerHeart · 31/12/2015 21:11

They're both very 'oh we are so wonderfully literary' in my eyes.

If you have to use one, I'd go Romeo. Paris is much more feminine, I think of it as a girls name.

Georgia3Rom · 31/12/2015 21:12

@eastwest I sadly don't like Hector, it's a nice name but for some reason Romeo and Paris won't leave my mind.

What about Roman? Common in some parts of Europe. I'd pick Rome over Romeo. If I had to.

ravenAK · 31/12/2015 21:13

I'd sack them both off for Mercutio.

In fact, if I'd been Juliet - I'd also have sacked them both off for Mercutio...Grin.

AuntieStella · 31/12/2015 21:14

If not leaping straight to Shakespeare, then Romeo makes me think of Romeo Challenger. Drummer of Showaddywaddy, and the person who played that instantaneously recognisable intro to 'Under the Moon of Love'
