Romeo or Paris

Not really dead set on these names but I really like them for now, it's for a boy, I'm currently leaning towards Paris but it changes by the day, opinions are also welcome.

Oh dear

SakuraSakura · 31/12/2015 21:20

Romeo.

Samantha28 · 31/12/2015 21:21

Neither

Georgia3Rom · 31/12/2015 21:21

@RavenAK most compelling argument I've heard, we can agree that Juliet chose the wrong man

How about Roman?

Georgia3Rom · 31/12/2015 21:25

I do like Roman, really nice name, I'll have to consider it Smile

Neither - definitely not Paris. That would be a very difficult name for your child to go through life with (and I like unusual names).

VashtaNerada · 31/12/2015 21:34

I'm not a fan of either. Although I'm aware of Paris in Greek mythology, my first thought would be of Paris Hilton. And Romeo - isn't that one of the Beckhams' children?

Firsteverchangeofname · 31/12/2015 21:35

Blanket Jacksons sister.

mrsschu · 31/12/2015 21:45

I'm pretty sure there is also a male Paris in Romeo & Juliet... They are both very faddy names IMO and will date very, very quickly. In fact I think they're already dated. If you have to pick one then Romeo is marginally better. Roman is an improvement although will also date quickly I think.

PunkrockerGirl · 31/12/2015 21:46

He may not have the piss ripped out of him at junior school.
Secondary school is another matter.
Set your dc up for a lifetime of ridicule if you must. But it's fine, you like it, that's what matters.
poor little fucker

RoseDaisy25 · 31/12/2015 22:09

My nephew is most definitely not a "poor little fucker" he's 11 and has just gone into Yr 7, it really isn't an issue... It's just another name

VinylScratch · 31/12/2015 22:11

Romeo is OK. Paris is too girly.

SanityClause · 31/12/2015 22:21

Paris isn't girly, at all.

Just because people have heard of Paris Hilton (poor woman's been given the name of a blimmin hotel, so parents were clearly a bit crap as far as names are concerned!).

I don't really like either, though, OP.

I like Hector, though, so we obviously have different taste in names.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 31/12/2015 22:29

I'm not keen on either, but I knew a couple of (male) Parises growing up and it was honestly never a 'weird' name. MN has weird ideas about which names are and aren't normal/faddy/going to cause bullying. (I'm late twenties and grew up in London, if you'd like demographic context for 'Paris as fairly normal boys name'.)

Salene · 31/12/2015 22:30

Oh god no , don't inflict that on a poor person

DickDewy · 31/12/2015 22:33

I don't think people with pretensions of a love for literature typically choose names like these.

Quite the opposite.

PunkrockerGirl · 31/12/2015 22:37

Is it Paris or Romeo though, Rose?

Nephew, so you had no choice in the name. And as a nephew, not a son, you clearly don't know everything that goes on at school. Even parents don't.
Romeo is fine if you like, have a real interest in Shakespeare worship the Beckams If not, just why?
Paris, just no.
Pretentious, ill thought out and wanky imo.

Baby Romeo and Paris may be cute not
But does nobody think how these names translate into adulthood.
Obviously not. Confused

SugarDiabetes · 31/12/2015 22:41

Wasn't Paris Romeo's love rival? The dude Juliet was supposed to marry?

I'd have eloped with Tybalt, King of Cats. MeOW!

SugarDiabetes · 31/12/2015 22:43

OP, how about Tobias, Conrad, Mallory, McCarthy?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/12/2015 22:43

Paris.

PotteringAlong · 31/12/2015 22:44

If you're leaning towards one of them, how about Pisa?

PunkrockerGirl · 31/12/2015 23:02

If it's the Shakespeare theme you're after:
Tybalt, Henry, Macbeth, Julius, Marc, Iago, Bottom, Puck, Othello, Antonio, Henry
All equally wank for children's names, as are Romeo and Paris Confused

PunkrockerGirl · 31/12/2015 23:04

Pottering Grin

FlowerBellll · 31/12/2015 23:19

It's Romeo and before you judge my situation, I am my nephew's full time carer, thank you very much.
