Zachary?

Hi there, I have posted on here before so apologies for coming back again with another dilemma! I've always struggled with boys names! DH and I had decided on Rory until I recently realised just how popular it is in Scotland at the moment! I'm Scottish and although I don't live there now, think we may move back in the next few years. So Rory is now out of the question!

What do you ladies think of Zachary Hughes? (nn Zach)

I really appreciate your help and advice Smile

Love it, nice rhythm to it.

Cliffdiver · 31/12/2015 16:50

Love it Smile

ArkATerre · 31/12/2015 16:51

Ah, but the short version is 'Zaccuse' 'Je accuse'

Sunshine511 · 31/12/2015 16:54

Thanks ladies Smile

Does that make it a definite no no, Ark? I've honestly just spent hours looking through a baby name book and I'm running out of ideas!! Why does naming babies have to be so hard!!!! Lol.x

I love it but then my Zach(ary) will be 10 soon 😄

ArkATerre · 31/12/2015 16:56

Gosh no, it's a bit niche and schoolgirl French. Wouldn't put me off. I just run all names through my head like in that episode of Terry and June where they turn to each other and go "Isabelle necessary on a bike!?!!!"

Sunshine511 · 31/12/2015 17:15

Oh great!! So it's still a contender then Smile

There sisters name would be Keira, does that work? Thank you all x

Very nice. Go for it.

CoffeeCoffeeAndLotsOfIt · 31/12/2015 19:56

It's a great name.

changingagain · 31/12/2015 19:58

I love it. It would of been a strong contender for DS if it wasn't already in the family.

CPtart · 31/12/2015 19:58

Lovely name, was on our shortlist.
As was Adam, Luke, Evan and Isaac.

Sophronia · 31/12/2015 20:10

I love the name Zachary Smile

xmasseason · 31/12/2015 21:16

I like it.

mrsschu · 31/12/2015 21:48

Not a fan of it, sorry. It sounds very "preppy" IMO. I like Rory but it does appear to be getting popular generally, I've come across a few popping up around London recently. In saying that I think Zachary is also pretty popular? I definitely know a few under about 5...

dimdommilpot · 01/01/2016 00:17

DD1 was going to be a Zachary if she was a boy. I love it.

Ditsy4 · 01/01/2016 01:09

I like it. I have a friend called Zac was Zachary. My nephew is Rory different spelling.

pieceofpurplesky · 01/01/2016 01:16

My Zach is nearly 12. It's a strong name and it suits him. I am a teacher and have only taught 5 in 16 years. He is the only one in his year (7) and was the only one in his primary.

Jw35 · 01/01/2016 01:28

Love it! It was 2nd on my list after Alex

Sunshine511 · 01/01/2016 09:30

Thanks ladies Smile

I love it too although it is also a very popular name.

Sunshine511 · 01/01/2016 13:22

Thanks oneowlgirl. I think it's currently ranked 40 in the UK and doesn't appear in the top 100 in Scotland (if the sites I've looked at are correct). Rory is mid 80s in England and Wales, but it's 23rd in Scotland (which I think is just too popular for my liking). Ideally I'd pick a name not in the top 100 but I really find boys names so tricky! I think I'd rather go with less common in Scotland since there's a fair chance of us ending up there Smile x

It is a lovely name Grin

Sunshine511 · 01/01/2016 18:44

Thanks again ladies!! I think we're decided Grin x
