Nora / Norah

I have fallen in love with Nora / Nora but DH says it makes him think of an old lady I would also need a 5 letter middle name that fits with it too. Unsure what spelling to go for, believe the h spelling means light in Arabic?

Yes, it's old lady but being reclaimed. I know two Noras under five, one with London hipster parents, one with west of Ireland academics. I like it. Prefer without the h.

Love Norah, might call my overdue DD Nora(h) but it hasn't been well received when I tell people.

My DD would be Nora Rose.

I know a Norah, it could also be short for Eleanora if that would suit your DH better?

I like it, when I was younger I thought it was desperately old fashioned but I've noticed a few younger ones about and it has grown on me. I went to school with an Honora, who went by Nora.

I love it - DS1 was going to be Norah if he was a girl. We now can't use the name as he ended up being called Noah so only one letter away!

Dislike but don't hate it. It sounds very fuddy duddy to me. Would also spell it without the "h" at the end if you're using it.

Haha thanks all - seems to be a bit like marmite. It would be the Nora we would go for, re the 5 letter middle name both our dds have 4 letter first and 5 letter middle names so it's just nice in my head that they would all be the same!

I really love it, going to have to convince DH though! The way he's going on it may well be in his no go list but I'm sure we'll find something eventually.

Love it! Seems glam to me, rather than old lady, but then the only Norah I've ever heard of is Norah Jones, and she's definitely glam rather than old lady!

We know a little Nora, short for Honoria, I was unsure when I first heard it but love it now.

I like it, prefer the Nora spelling.
