I'm due next Monday and can't decide on girls names. I like Genevieve but what would nickname be? Gen, Ginny or Viv????

Other front runners are:
Beatrix
Annabel
Imogen
Olivia

I get more undecided by the day....

Thanks all Smile xx

Post should say Genevieve Blush

I really like Genevieve. You don't have to decide on a nickname right away, people will naturally shorted most names and you can just use whichever one sticks.

I like all your names but Genevieve most of all (although I am biased towards Olivia). Smile

JennaRoss · 24/12/2015 05:19

I know one in her 20s. NNs Gen and Evie which are both sweet. Lovely name

BigGreenOlives · 24/12/2015 06:10

I know a lovely Genevieve in her mid 20s. She's sometimes known as Gen. It's a great name as it's well enough known to be familiar but not overly popular. In my dds school of over 700 girls there is only one.

Scarletforya · 24/12/2015 06:13

I love, love, love Genevieve.

The others don't come close imo.

Thundercrackers · 24/12/2015 06:18

Olivia is nice but beware- she would be one of about 5 in her class at school! I love genevieve (although my phone autocorrect just cannot cope with it!)

EmpressOfTheVulvaCupcakes · 24/12/2015 06:23

I like Genevieve too, and as Obloquy said the shortenings will come naturally!

MissAlabamaWhitman · 24/12/2015 07:25

I'm a Genevieve who goes by Gen.

Frazzled2207 · 24/12/2015 07:28

Top of our list was Genevieve nn Evie
I had boysSmile

Peppapigallowsmetoshower · 24/12/2015 07:32

Love it. Use it, I would but DH pulled a face, took a long pause and made a King Arthur reference before I huffed away....

SarfEast1cated · 24/12/2015 07:32

I wonder if you could use 'Neive' (sp?) as a nick name?

Cantwaittillboxingday · 24/12/2015 07:34

Beautiful name.

WanderingTrolley1 · 24/12/2015 07:35

Beautiful.

Cantwaittillboxingday · 24/12/2015 07:35

Will it be pronounced with a 'J' or a 'Zh'?

Raines100 · 24/12/2015 08:06

This is our choice for our (imaginary) DD2. She would be Genna/Jenna for short. Are you pronouncing it Jen-uh-veev or Zhun-vee-ev?

imsorryiasked · 24/12/2015 08:10

There is one Genevieve in DS class who is always known as Gennie. I guess most people assume she is called Jenny / Jennifer.

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 24/12/2015 08:12

I love it but DH was put off because of the 1950's film ... I also like "Genevra", a version of the same name. I think it is a little more common on the Continent.

Lizziedripping1 · 24/12/2015 10:43

My mums French friend is called Genevieve over there she pronounces it Gen-ev-eaeve

nn is Gigi

I think it's a lovely name

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/12/2015 10:51

The teenage Genevieve I know is generally called Gee.

They are all nice names you have there.

y0rkier0se · 24/12/2015 10:54

Love love love Genevieve and I think Ginny is the cutest nickname!

ditavonteesed · 24/12/2015 10:55

My Genevieve is known as Genie, it did take her several years to learn to write her own name though.

ditavonteesed · 24/12/2015 10:56

also now wondering if IamsorryIasked is refering to my dd.

cecilelliott · 24/12/2015 12:42

Lovely name. We know one 5 year old who's known as Gigi

scribblegirl · 24/12/2015 12:44

Adore it. Would be on my list if my sister didn't have one of the names listed as v similar above!

Sophronia · 24/12/2015 14:11

Genevieve nn Vivi or Genny.
