Pronounced "z-oh-la"
I know nobody else is likely to be called thIs in her class.

Just wondered what others thought of it?

The pronunciation... do you mean "zo - la" two syllables, or do you mean a sort of separated "z" as you've written it which would be three syllables?

If "zo - la" then I think it's fine, although my immediate thought was Zola Budd. I don't think that's a bad association though.

Very pretty, like Nola. Plus, might lead to an interest in reading Emile Zola's books.

squoosh · 13/12/2015 03:14

Barefoot runners tripping people up and the Dreyfus Affair.

GladysTheGolem · 13/12/2015 03:19

Massive Chelsea fans? Would be my first thought;

MrsRhettButler · 13/12/2015 03:22

I immediately think of Gianfranco Zola the football player, I'd assume you were a fan Grin

Without thinking of him it is actually a lovely sounding name Smile

ButterflyOfFreedom · 13/12/2015 03:48

I know a dog named Zola (sorry).

I'm not keen - prefer Zara or Zoellick.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 13/12/2015 03:49

Zoellick ?????!!

That should be Zoe!

VashtaNerada · 13/12/2015 05:03

Makes me think of Emile too. I wouldn't immediately know if it was a boy or girls name, but I quite like it.

AuntieStella · 13/12/2015 05:49

I'd think French surname (author and footballer).

cashewnutty · 13/12/2015 05:51

I had a dog called Zola.

Hurr1cane · 13/12/2015 06:29

I know a little girl called Zola.

It's a beautiful name

BowiesJumper · 13/12/2015 06:31

Makes me think of grey's anatomy (cultured me). Pretty though!

Footle · 13/12/2015 06:45

Perfectly ok name but E Zola isn't exactly nursery reading.

NewBallsPlease00 · 13/12/2015 06:55

There is a Zola in devious maids

MaybeAnOverthinker · 13/12/2015 07:11

Yes it's two syllables like Zo-la when pronounced!

Never seen a Chelsea match so wouldn't know of any players.

I was thinking Lily or Phoebe or possibly Emilia as a middle name?

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 13/12/2015 07:17

Zola is really nice. You couldn't have Zola lily. I would go for a single syllable middle name I think

Oysterbabe · 13/12/2015 10:22

I immediately thought it was a boys name, probably because of the football association.

Sophronia · 13/12/2015 11:42

Makes me think of Gianfranco Zola too.

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 13/12/2015 11:45

Zola like greys anatomy

MaybeAnOverthinker · 13/12/2015 12:51

That's where I heard it and loved it Iguess!

MotiSen · 13/12/2015 13:24

Zola Leigh? Zolalee?

whattheseithakasmean · 13/12/2015 13:27

Zola is lovely. My first thought was Zola Budd - I think a female athlete is a pretty good association.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 13/12/2015 21:04

I think it's horrible, sorry.

babyblabber · 13/12/2015 21:08

There's a little girl in my daughter's class called Zola. I think it's really pretty!

Coral2094 · 13/12/2015 23:48

I really like it, unusual, pretty and easy to spell!
