Thinking about this for baby due in March, it's a family name. Could be Teddy or Ted as nn. What are your thoughts, is it too old fashioned? Do you know any Edwins?

I love the name Edwin! It is quite old-fashioned but with a "normal" surname - not double-barrelled, not exotic - will sound just fine. Can't use it here sadly :(

DH and are are planning on Edwin if we have any boys - it's actually Buzz Aldrin's "real" name (although he has since changed to Buzz legally).

We have a ridiculously boring surname (and a family name in the middle) so it sounds OK.

You could absolutely go for Ted/Teddy as a nn.

I absolutely love it. Does it really need a nickname? It is simple, beautiful and strong in its own right.

I know a little Edwin who is three. Lovely name.

I like it. It's an underused classic.

Wow, never heard it before and I love it. Really love it!

MarieJeanne · 12/12/2015 21:31

I like it, but think I prefer Edmund.

YeOldeTrout · 12/12/2015 21:32

I don't like it. I do love Edgar. So probably being completely daft. Go for it if you love it.

My least favourite Ed name.

It's a bit.......drippy.

I love the name, my grandad was called Edwin and if we were having a boy that's what I'd want to call him Smile

Adore this. It was on our list.
