Baby due August.... quite like Augusta as a middle name

Would you? and/or what would you think hearing it?

Roman?

GoldPlatedBacon · 11/12/2015 21:47

Thumbs up!

MarySmilingAndHerBrassieres · 11/12/2015 21:48

I think of Augustus Gloop, the gluttonous boy from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

So it's a no from me. Smile

marymarynotcontrary · 11/12/2015 21:48

Roman what?

Augustus was the Roman leader ... but I'm thinking for a girl, not a boy

Augustus would be cruel. Like Augustus Gloop.

Autumn is really pretty, but probably not for an August babe :)

weebarra · 11/12/2015 21:50

Yes, I know, but Augusta is a Roman female name too.

marymarynotcontrary · 11/12/2015 21:51

Ah right... so what was your question?

Am I Roman? Or do I know it's Roman...?

Yika · 11/12/2015 21:53

I find it too solemn and a bit stodgy. What about Augustine?

starry0ne · 11/12/2015 21:53

I also thought Ausgustus gloop...not a name I would use for a girl or boy

Yika · 11/12/2015 21:54

Oh just realised it's for a middle name. Then it's OK. :)

weebarra · 11/12/2015 21:54

What would you think hearing it? Roman matriarch.

marymarynotcontrary · 11/12/2015 21:56

Ah, thank you but I studied theology so Augustine is Saint Augustine for me... so not suitable for a girl

Obviously I'd never use Augustus

But it seems nobody much likes Augusta either. Ah, well good to know I s'pose. Stodgy isn't what I want to go for!

marymarynotcontrary · 11/12/2015 21:58

Yika yes, for a middle name

Along the lines of Elizabeth Augusta

SaltMarshPirate · 11/12/2015 22:02

I think it's absolutely lovely. Really elegant.

Katarzyna79 · 11/12/2015 22:05

marysmiling that's just what I was going to say, based on Roald Dahl no for me too lol

Yika · 11/12/2015 22:08

Elizabeth Augusta would be lovely. :)

IAmACuboid · 11/12/2015 22:24

I like it, reminds me of the car which is beautiful. Lancia Augusta.

Tbh I like August for a girl too.
Augustine?

Sophronia · 11/12/2015 22:26

I like it, and think it's elegant rather than stodgy.

Mehitabel6 · 11/12/2015 22:30

Fine as a middle name but I wouldn't use it as a first name.

tootsietoo · 11/12/2015 22:32

I did! For a middle name. I would have loved to have called her Augusta, but decided it was a little bit too unusual with possibly less attractive shortened versions, so it was relegated to the middle.

Augustus Gloop never crossed my mind.

LumelaMme · 11/12/2015 22:49

I really like it. I do have an unusual taste in names though...

CruCru · 11/12/2015 22:51

I love it.

CelestiaLuna · 12/12/2015 00:48

I absolutely love it and really regret not using it as a mn for my August baby, just didn't think of it at the time.
