Is this a good or bad idea?

So, my maiden name is Stephenson and would like to include this when naming our child. I don't want to just shove the whole surname, as a second middle name, in there - but feel like Stephen and Stephanie would be a good alternative. Their first middle name would just be a name we liked... Good or bad idea? Charlotte x

I don't see why not, both nice names.
This being MN though am sure someone will be along soon to tell you to give them your surname!

Great idea if those are names you and any partner like...

We think they're nice - I don't love them, but I do really like the idea

Great idea, my friend did just that. Her child is 'her-surname his-surname'. Obviously only works if you have the right sort of surname that works as a first name too. Go for it.

Lovely idea.

Good idea.

They will always have a little story for where their middle name came from.

Nice idea. A friend of mine did something similar.

It also makes life easier for anyone researching the family tree in years to come Smile
